The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD est un jeu disponible sur Wii U depuis le 26 septembre 2013, développé par Nintendo EAD Software Development Group No.3 et édité par Nintendo. Classé dans les genres aventure et réflexion / puzzle, ce titre constitue un remaster de The Wind Waker proposant une recréation alternative du style artistique original, plusieurs ajustements de gameplay, un nouveau moteur d'éclairage et des textures en haute résolution.
L'intrigue se déroule plusieurs centaines d'années après les événements de Ocarina of Time. Le héros Link vit avec sa grand-mère sur l'île d'Outset, l'une des nombreuses petites îles éparpillées sur la Grande Mer. Le jour de son dixième anniversaire, il croise un oiseau géant transportant une fille. Après avoir sauvé la jeune fille, sa propre sœur est enlevée par l'oiseau. La fille s'avère être une capitaine pirate nommée Tetra, qui accepte d'aider Link à retrouver et secourir sa sœur. Au fil de leur voyage, ils comprennent qu'un mal légendaire et puissant s'est réveillé et doivent trouver un moyen de l'arrêter.
La durée de jeu pour l'histoire principale est estimée à 25 heures, tandis qu'une approche complétionniste atteint 42 heures et demie. Le jeu bénéficie par ailleurs d'une note agrégée de 90,45.
Du côté de l'accueil critique, la presse a salué la qualité du titre. Eurogamer a ainsi déclaré que « Just like its young hero, The Wind Waker is crisp and energetic, spirited and soulful, just a little bit wayward - and it hasn't aged a day. » De son côté, Eurogamer Portugal a noté que « Although without presenting new content, Wind Waker HD comes to the Wii U after a restoration that puts it at the same level of productions of the current gene… ». Les avis des joueurs sont plus partagés : si l'un d'eux exprime sur Metacritic son attachement en affirmant « L’un de mes Zelda préféré , amoureux de la direction artistique, de la musique et du game play, absolument rien à redire. », un autre joueur du même site livre un ressenti mitigé en évoquant « Just finished playing the game. Very mixed feeling on it. The first third was fun but stupid easy, the middle 3rd was boring and repetitive as hell, between co… ».

« Just finished playing the game. Very mixed feeling on it. The first third was fun but stupid easy, the middle 3rd was boring and repetitive as hell, between collecting the triforce pieces and the earth and wind temples feeling so similar since they are both escort missions. The final 3rd was pretty fun. Ganons tower has some really fun puzzles and the combat and bosses are fun. Outside of puppet ganon, that’s a very annoying fight. Probably won’t return to this at all but I did love the art style. »

The HD version makes some improvements from the visuals to adding the Swift Sail to make traveling through the Great Sea faster. « Wind waker la primera ves que lo probe y me lo complete la vrd fue magico y pocos juegos me an echo sentirlo que senti con wind waker como esta hecho el oceano,las mazmorras,la trama,las texturas y al principio no le tenian tantas expectativas por su estilo artistico pero al final resulto ser unos de los 3 mejores juegos de la saga zelda en mi opinion y bastante recomendable si te gustan los juegos de exploracion y de la saga zelda y pars mi mas sincera opinion este es el mejor juego de la gamecube »
