The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Description (IGDB)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the first Zelda game created specifically with the Wii in mind. The game makes use of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral for sword fighting, with a revised Wii Remote pointing system used for targeting. Skyward Sword is structured very similar to previous Zelda games, as you travel through an overworld in search of temples to visit and once in you solve a series of puzzles before fighting a boss at the end and receive the next bit of plot. The biggest change is that the overworld is more focused on puzzles with only a handful of action.
Histoire (IGDB)
In the floating island community of Skyloft, a young knight-in-training named Link lives above an endless sea of clouds, unaware of the surface world below. When his childhood friend Zelda is swept away by a mysterious dark tornado and pulled beneath the cloud barrier, Link is drawn to a sacred sword hidden within a statue of the goddess. The blade's spirit, Fi, reveals Link is the prophesied hero destined to confront a rising evil. He must descend to the long-abandoned surface lands to find Zelda before the self-proclaimed Demon Lord Ghirahim can use her to revive his imprisoned master, the ancient Demon King Demise, whose return would threaten all existence.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« How apt that this ultimate tale of hero-making should see Nintendo's hardware become the console it was always meant to be. »
« The biggest surprise in Skyward Sword is the story. For all the different shapes it has taken, the plot of The Legend of Zelda has always been a fairly predictable affair that feels like an afterthought. Skyward Sword doesn't elevate the art of video game storytelling, but it is a major step up for the franchise, with clever writing, an interesting (if strange) new villain, and a wide cast of characters that would feel at home in one of Disney's better animated movies. »
« Skyward Sword finally brings satisfying swordplay, delivering on a promise made five years ago. »
« Remarkably, this Zelda game manages to reshape its control scheme, design sensibility and pacing all at once while still telling a brilliantly powerful story featuring some very memorable characters. Increasingly Nintendo refuses to compromise cinematic storytelling for gameplay, finding a balance that seems effortless. »
« Whether or not it's the best ever Zelda game is open to debate, but it's certainly up there. However, nobody could argue that it's anything less than a masterclass in the art of crafting video games. »
« Revolutionary on at least two counts, with the best motion controls ever seen in a video game and an inspired reinvention and improvement of the Zelda formula. »
« Skyward Sword is an epic, the sort of epic you call out of work or school for a few days to complete. A focused playthrough will take you north of 30 hours, and if you try to 100% the game, there is a 50+ hour quest to go through. Throw in the second quest, dubbed Hero Mode, and there is a lot of game to play. »
« The most important change is that most everything feels new. The fights against giant boss creatures at the end of each dungeon don't rely on old ideas. The classic characters are replaced, for the most part, with novel ones. If you already know what's going to happen, is that really capturing the spirit of the original Legend of Zelda, in which we all went in blind? Skyward Sword shows that "a real Zelda game" is about more than certain items or certain gameplay rituals, which in the end is more meaningful than adding better sword controls. »

« If you can't handle the motion controls, it's a "you" problem. Your hand-eye-coordination needs some work. Git gud. »
« AMAZING game. the remaster in switch really brought it back to life. love the story and the little bits of comedy sprinkled into the cutcenes »
« [SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers.] »
« A fun game but not so fun or interesting of a story to keep me playing the whole game. The dungeons in this game might be among the best in the series but the linearity of the story and the antiquated systems of traversing the map made me give up. »
« The single, most inexorable annoyance of Skyward Sword is its over-reliance on motion controls. It may have been innovating at first, but when it’s constantly demanding the player to swing around his Wii remote in 12 different directions each time for the most basic tasks that could’ve easily been streamlined or substituted by analog controls, it no longer remains a novel concept, but rather a serious inconvenience, never mind the fact that it made every mini-game way more frustrating than it should’ve been. Everything else about it is enjoyable to a fault. World-class in creative ideas and interesting set pieces, in typical Zelda fashion. It’s a game with which you may have a bone or two to pick (fighting The Imprisoned three separate times), but when the credits finally roll, you can’t help but appreciate it for its goodness. Suffice it to say, it’s up there as one of my all time favorite games. »
« Best of Zelda, beautiful world and great dungeon design... One of the best games ever played »
« An amazing game, and by far the best story in the franchise with a very unique world. This game originally was my favorite probably purely based on nostalgia but since playing it several times again I’ve noticed the repetitiveness and clunky gameplay so many complain about but by no means has it affected how I feel about it. If you want a good soundtrack this is by far one of the best soundtracks as well. Overall such a beautiful game and story and it’s a must play »
« The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (9.4/10) delivers an ambitious origin story for Hyrule with innovative motion-based combat and soaring sky exploration. Its dungeons are creative, puzzles engaging, and narrative heartfelt. While some mechanics feel polarizing, the art style, music, and story depth shine. A bold, memorable Zelda adventure that rewards patience and curiosity, adding a unique chapter to the franchise’s rich history. »
