Sorti le 31 octobre 2019, Persona 5 Royal est une version améliorée du jeu de rôle au tour par tour Persona 5, développée par P Studio et éditée par Sega et Atlus. Situé dans le Tokyo contemporain, le titre place le joueur dans la peau d'un lycéen en liberté conditionnelle à la suite d'un crime qu'il n'a pas commis, contraint de transférer à l'académie Shujin et d'y vivre sous la surveillance d'un ami de sa famille. Il découvre alors le Metaverse, un monde caché où les désirs corrompus des adultes prennent forme physique, et forme avec d'autres exclus les Voleurs fantômes des cœurs pour voler la source de ces corruptions et forcer leurs auteurs à avouer leurs crimes. Le jeu mêle exploration de donjons surnaturels, combat au tour par tour et simulation sociale, le joueur gérant ses activités quotidiennes et ses relations sur une année scolaire. Royal ajoute de nouveaux personnages, un troisième semestre, un Palais supplémentaire, de nouvelles musiques et du contenu scénaristique étendu. Disponible sur PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 et Xbox Series X|S, l'édition définitive inclut plus de quarante contenus téléchargeables parus précédemment et propose un choix de doublage japonais ou anglais. La presse a salué l'ensemble proposé, God is a Geek évoquant un rêve pour les fans avec presque chaque aspect amélioré, tandis qu'Attack of the Fanboy notait que peu de jeux ayant obtenu un tel succès critique avaient poussé l'effort aussi loin. Certains joueurs sur Metacritic et Steam expriment leur enthousiasme, qualifiant le titre de l'un des meilleurs RPG jamais sortis ou d'exceptionnel sur tous ses aspects. Le jeu affiche un score Metacritic de 95 et un score OpenCritic de 94.

« i give it a 9 because no game can be perfect but this one is pretty damn close, i have platinum on it and i made a more in depth review on it on steam, because mostly my problems were story related i don't want to write it here, my first persona game and it might stay my favorite one for a while »
