The player incarnates a private investigator in 1920s, who finds himself in a city of New England, Oakmont Massachusetts. It's currently suffering from extensive waterflood, and its cause is clearly supernatural.

L’un de mes jeux vidéo préférés et, à mes yeux, l’un des mondes ouverts les plus réussis. Oakmont n’est pas une ville immense, mais elle possède une identité remarquable. Les quartiers inondés, l’architecture délabrée, les tensions entre communautés...

Lovecraft’s worlds… that sense of strangeness that lies over everything like a fog that draws you in and embraces you in the oddness of it all is quite compelling. Best played at night with the lights off to truly become immersed in the world of The Sinking City. »
« As much as I adore the story and atmosphere of The Sinking City, it definitely feels like a budget title at times. If you can get past the weak combat, harmless jank, and enjoy a solid detective experience that won't hold your hand and throw tough choices your way, you shouldn't pass up on it. « Pros: Story, characters, mood, atmosphere, nice detective work, difficult grey moral choices and quite good graphics for a small AA studio. Cons: Extremely repetitive interior layouts, clunky combat, only a handful of different enemies and many bland fetch side quests. All in all just for (Frogwares) Sherlock fans or Lovecraft fans recommendable. »

Yes, it's clunky, full of repetitive content, has underwhelming combat, poor performance and is sometimes confusing but the overall dreary aesthetic, atmosphere of dread and despair, bizarre characters and story laden with ambiguous choices made it an ultimately rewarding experience. »
« 1.5/10 Salvando la atmósfera, no recomendaría esta porquería a nadie. La historia es simplemente lamentable, totalmente desacompasada con un "mundo abierto" completamente vacío. TODOS los personajes que conoces son un resumen de 3 frases mediocres para que tomes una decisión que ni aporta, ni sirve absolutamente para nada en todo el juego. No vuelven a aparecer/no vuelves a verlos. La "investigación" del loop jugable consiste en ir de punto A al B, luego al C y D... Ves una secuencia que te dice la solución y... ya. No pienses, no razones... el juego está hecho para que cualquiera con serios daños cerebrales pueda completarlo. El combate, las animaciones... Absolutamente deleznable. »
« Un muy buen juego si eres amante de los libros de Loveraft. La historia se ubica en un pueblo cercano a Insmouth, el lugar dónde ser desarrolla el relato/novela corta de "La sombra sobre Insmouth" que me gustó mucho cuando lo leí en su momento. En el se pueden apreciar a dichos insmouthianos con su característica apariencia de pescado. Está todo lleno de referencias y para mí, tanto la atmósfera como el diseño de los personajes son muy fieles a los libros. Por ello, para alguien que ha leído y disfrutado con Lovecraft, lo va a pasar bien con el juego. Ahora, si todo esto te da igual, pasaría a ser un "survival horror", si se puede llamar así, bastante cutre. »

Absolutely stupid developers who didn't even bother to look for US Mail logo from the correct period, they slapped modern logo into game from the prohibition era... Just couldn't be bother to play further if devs are complete morons and didn't care less about such an easy thing to verify and do properly. »
