Mario Pinball Land
Mario Pinball Land
Description (IGDB)
Jumping has always helped Mario perform heroic feats, but in Mario Pinball Land, the plumber must learn how to roll to rescue the princess. When Bowser kidnaps Peach and escapes to another dimension, a scientist transforms Mario into a ball to chase after the fiend. Now you must use your flippers to shoot a much rounder Mario into doors that lead to new areas. In his new form, Mario is also useful for knocking down enemies, picking up special bonuses, and finding power-ups.

« By delightfully melding combat and puzzle solving with solid pinball physics, Mario Pinball is not only the first pinball action/adventure game, but it's also a damn good one at that. [Nov 2004, p.130] »
« The game is brimming with strategy. [JPN Import] »
« Puts a new "spin" on the genre. »
« MPL is a fun pinball game, with enough new twists and turns to keep any flipper fanatic happy. »
« As a pinball-flavored adventure, the game is a little basic for my tastes, but it's still a graphically excellent outing. [Dec 2004, p.142] »
« Compared to other GBA games out there Super Mario Ball doesn't have the same amount of gameplay hours. Even with all of the stars to find, five worlds isn't much to conquer. [JPN Import] »
« It combines the general concepts behind tabletop pinball with the characters and worlds from the Mario franchise to create a strange sort of adventure game that's fairly fun but a little on the short side. »
« I think this desire to innovate in the genre comes at the expense of what's ultimately good abuot pinball itself...There's not one individual stage that has that incredibly addictive "I could play this until I die" feeling that you get from a well-made traditional pinball machine. [Oct 2004, p.147] »

« This is the worst piece of Mario media I have ever consumed. Why? Because the controls are inconsistent, the physics are abysmal, the game's rules are generally unfair in every way, the music sounds uninspired and has little resemblance to Mario as a franchise, the bosses are poorly designed (especially the Bowser fight at the end, I spent more time on him than the rest of the game combined), the story is just the same old Mario story but made 10000 times more idiotic with this ball mechanic, and I would've rated this game higher IF THE SAVING MECHANIC WASN'T SO BROKEN (So bad in fact you have to literally press Start, then Save and Quit EVERY TIME you want to stop playing, and if you forget once YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE WHOLE GAME ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!) Only thing I can give it is the visuals look good for a GBA game in 2004. That's it. This game is my least favourite thing about the whole Mario franchise. I'd rather play Sticker Star. I'd rather play Hotel Mario. I'd rather play all the educational games that were ever made for this series. I'd rather Mario Party Advance AND 10. I'd rather play Mario Strikers on Switch. I'd play these and any other bad game in thks franchise you can name over this abomination. »
« Dark Souls ****, Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels go back to japan, Mighty No.9 i Wish you never existed, Super Meat Boy Jump in a meat grinder, A new challenger has entered the ring, HOW IS THIS THE HARDEST MARIO GAME EVER MADE »
« THIS GAME **** **** worst game ive ever played worst game ever made this game is garbage genuinely trash »
« Mario Pinball Land is a decent pinball game with a Mario twist. While it may not offer the same level of depth and variety as other pinball games, it still manages to capture the charm and whimsy of the Mario franchise. If you're a fan of both pinball and Mario, it can provide a fun and nostalgic experience. However, if you're seeking a more robust pinball game with intricate mechanics and extensive replayability, you may want to explore other options in the genre. »
« Graphics are good, but the game itself is just frustrating. Trying to simply advance Mario from one room to another can be needlessly difficult. Enemies oftentimes block your path in the most inconvenient ways and also respawn. A few of the stars are marginally harder than the rest and should've been made easier to get. The final boss in particular feels like quite the difficulty spike relative to the rest of the game and is also very tedious to beat. There's some fun to be had here, but it feels like too tilting of an experience to actually enjoy the game for very long. Genuinely the most frustrating game I have ever played, and this is coming from someone who enjoys difficult games. »
« **** This. Game. One of, if not the worst game I have ever played. No skill, all luck, the bumpers are random and have nothing to do with timing. I would say to stay as far away from this god awful piece of crap as you can. It is an abhorrent experience of to which has made my brain melt in the worst way. I feel like this game is the equivalent of having syphilis and cancer. I would rather play all 3 Dark Souls games at the same time than this garbage. If I could give this game a negative score I absolutely would. Never ever play this, for my sake and for yours. »
« Mario gets turned into a ball and has to save peach/// sounds horrible, but actually its a kinda good time. Unfortunately, you're gonna fall over and over and your progress doesn't get saved to add a little sense of "challenge" »
« I can't even tell you how bad this game is. This game was terrible. The graphics are not enough to save this game, because of the controls. The controls are the reason why this game is bad. That's all I have to say. »
