Burnout

« [Scoring note: "Direct Hit" = 100] A ram-jammed, brain-scrambling eye shag. »
« More speed related fun than should be legal. »
« A tense, exciting and genuinely thrilling experience. [Jan 2002, p.125] »
« Pure exhilaration; it’s an adrenaline-fuelled romp that will satisfy even the most extreme racers out there. »
« More than good, really, more situated in the whole “amazing/incredibly addictive/cleverly balanced” extreme. »
« If you're looking for a good, solid racing game that will absolutely, positively satisfy your need for an overabundance of speed and destruction, this is THE game for you. »
« It's got the racing dynamic of EA's "Need for Speed" and Acclaim's "Test Drive" series, but the speed and abandon of "Crazy Taxi" and "Driver." »
« A racing title that blends adrenaline-pumping racing action to its purest level. Excellent physics detection and even better physical car damage and being topped off with crisp sound makes Burnout a title that should not be overlooked. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« High cortisol gameplay, cars can just randomly crash into you from outside no matter how fast your reaction time is. Driving feels really good though. Burnout is challenging, completing these long tracks was satisfying - last race is like 19 minutes long. Solid foundation for its better sequel. 7-/10 »
« Going back to a game series root is one of the things that I will keep doing when I can. Burnout 2001 was a pretty decent to okay game, it shown it's age, and it has flaws that are pretty noticeable, like the most annoying thing is the stupid and outrageous rubber band. I think the driving is acceptable for the time, the AI also, the maps were good and challenging, I think they used some of them in Burnout 3 or revenge. The music was bad imo, the cars were ok, It's hard to judge a game that is older than me. The best event in the game was the face-off, even though this event was my least favorite event in Burnout 3. Played from the 24th May till 4th June 2026. 4 hours played. »
« The game is good, but the BIGGEST flaw is that the traffic cars at any time can just drive into you from the game's borders. Like that's not cool the game's just trolling you »
« This game borders on rot, it is difficult for several reasons, it has a short time to reach checkpoints, the tracks are long and with many turns, the number of vehicles in traffic is enormous, The screen is so serrated that you can't see what's in front of you. If this game has something positive, it's the way the car behaves in a crash, the car's playability, the dust particles when it steps on a dirt floor , and a slow motion replay of all the accidents that happened during the race . WORST GAME OF THE SERIES »
« I like the mechanics. It feels good to drive. But I don’t like anything else. The music is boring, there are not really challenges. You just race alone for 6 minuets. It’s boring. »
« The first Burnout game to start the series of Burnout. This game is very good but it is also missing other things to do in this game anyway still it is a fun game. »
« When Burnout first came out, there was no equal. It's fast-paced races, combined with the amazing crashes and the ability to leave it all and try and set a better time than you had made Criterion Games a household name. The only thing I could criticize was the lack of more racers in a race (ONLY FOUR RACERS?). Burnout thoroughly deserves this 9. »
