The Wolf Among Us, développé et édité par Telltale Games, est sorti le 11 octobre 2013 sur une large palette de plateformes incluant la PlayStation 3, la Xbox 360, le PC, Android, iOS, la PlayStation 4, Mac, la Xbox One et la PlayStation Vita. Ce jeu d'aventure de type point-and-click, construit avec le moteur Telltale Tool, se présente comme une série en cinq épisodes produite par les créateurs de The Walking Dead, distingué comme jeu de l'année 2012. S'appuyant sur la série de comics primée Fables (DC Comics/Vertigo), le titre propose un thriller mature, violent et sombre où les personnages de contes et de légendes sont réels et ont fui leurs terres d'origine pour créer Fabletown à Manhattan en 1986, sous la houlette de Bigby Wolf, le Grand Méchant Loup devenu shérif. L'évolution des mécaniques de choix et de conséquences du studio fait que non seulement les décisions du joueur, mais aussi le moment où elles sont prises, influencent le récit autour d'un meurtre brutal annonciateur de troubles plus grands.
Disponible au prix de 14,99 euros, The Wolf Among Us a reçu un accueil critique favorable avec un score Metacritic de 85, un score OpenCritic de 80 et une note agrégée de 82,88. La presse finlandaise Pelit a salué une œuvre supérieure au comic original et qualifiée de modèle de narration, tandis que certains joueurs sur Metacritic et Steam ont loué l'immersion, la direction artistique et la cohérence narrative de bout en bout, même si un critique de Game Over Online a exprimé une déception relative au nombre de puzzles proposés.

« Bella trama in stile noir. Stile artistico piacevole, **** interessanti. Purtroppo non raggiunge voti più alti perchè le scelte non influenzano davvero la storia, tranne che nel capitolo finale (in cui cambia il modo in cui si raggiunge l'epilogo, ma il finale resta comunque sostanzialmente simile). »

« i know it's been more than a decade, but this is a very poor experience on pc. no borderless windowed, it changes all my color settings so i have to reset my monitor, no option to toggle pausing on loss of focus, pretty difficult to play with 2 monitors. the quick time events are cool, but the button mashing is excessive within the first scene of the game, and there are basically no settings to remove this or reduce the difficulty like in dispatch. again, i know dispatch is a much newer game, but the wolf among us has dreadfully poor accessibility and qol options. ive played plenty of games that require mashing, but after being expected to mash the Q key at lightning speed for what felt like an hour in the first scene, i decided this game has aged too poorly in a technical sense to be enjoyable. maybe the story is really good, but it would not take that much work to have more than 2 options under gameplay settings, or for the game to have a tiny patch that just makes it friendly for people with multiple screens. i guess i will just try the newer telltale titles. my experience with the game was close to a 3/10, but im giving it a 5 because im sure there is good content that i havent seen yet »
« I don't love the telltale games, in large part due to fact that the choices you make almost never matter and most scenes are ironically (and someties stupidly) excactly the same. However in this one I found it much more bearable, maybe because the story was actually quite good and the way it unravels kind of justifies the player's choices not being so impactful. I also loved all the characters and the general tone/atmosphere of the game. In the end, the game is solid and it was overall a good and relaxed experience »
