Pocket Games 100/100

« Not only is this the best game of the classic series, it's arguably the best game in the history of the NES. [Summer 2004, p.14] »

Cinescape 100/100

« Perhaps the game with the longest playtime of any released in this series, ZELDA not only features a long quest, but a Master Quest that doubles the length of the game. »

Gaming Age 91/100

« The game holds its own despite dated graphics and sound. »

Play Magazine 91/100

« More than any other game in the Classic NES series, The Legend of Zelda is just as good now as it was back in the '80s. [Aug 2004, p.61] »

GameZone 90/100

« One of the best games to be released on the NES years ago, and even though it is over fifteen years old, it still retains the fun factor as it did back then. »

Nintendo Power 90/100

« The graphics show the game's age (released in 1987), but the Legend of Zelda's gameplay stands the test of time, showing why the adventure that introduced Link continues to be a huge influence on game design. [July 2004, p.121] »

1UP 90/100

« A huge, involving quest full of secrets, challenge and bonuses. The intensely difficult Second Quest remains one of the greatest unlockable extras in the history of the medium. And it's all captured beautifully on this GBA cart. »

GamePro 90/100

« If there is one Classic NES cart to throw your nickel to, it's this one. Trust us on this. [Sept 2004, p.93] »

Contudo, é inegável o quanto certas escolhas e limitações deixam tanto a desejar que chega a doer fisicamente enquanto você joga »

« The origin of the legend! Zelda! Without a doubt the most important character in the history of video games.Kidnapped time and time again for decades, she still manages to surprise us. In this story she sends her nursemaid Impa to seek help from the anonymous hero, but even before that she had already divided the Triforce of Power into eight fragments and hidden them across eight terrifying dungeons. Yet for me, the best moment is her composure at the end of the game—her quiet stoicism.Without a doubt, a perfectly fitting title for both the game and the legend itself »

« The Legend of Zelda is a tough, unfriendly, and very much a product of its era game. It has brilliant ideas that changed the medium, but also decisions that feel unfair and poorly aged today. It doesn't guide you, it doesn't explain things, and it punishes you more than necessary, which can deter many current players.Even so, its sense of adventure, freedom, and discovery remains special. Not because it is perfect, but because it was brave and paved the way that others later managed to polish. It is not a game for everyone today, but it is an essential one for understanding where many modern adventures come from. With its flaws and its successes, it remains a key piece of video game history. »

« I played this game on the Nintendo Switch Online Service and after loads and laods of save states and with the help ****, I beat it. It still took me at least 6 - 7 hours to finish. So if I try to think for it's time this is an extremely hard game. I don't know if it'd be possible for even %1 of the players to finish it. It doesn't tell you anything, it is incredibly hard even to find the dungeons, let alone finish them in one go. I feel like it'd be a constant worry of going to the fairy's lake for regeneration. And finding the power-ups, also going to the dungeons equipped with the right items (Because otherwise you can't beat it) would be not just hard, but outright impossible for most people. Even though I wouldn't do it, I thought it would be fun to actually write down in paper all of the locations, all of the ways and tricks and maybe even write down the map of the game while playing again again so that might be a way but stil, it'd be way too hard. Now as for my experience with the game, I had a great time. I really like the aesthetic, the movement and the combat, at least the combat we do when Link is at full heart and can shoot projectiles out of his sword. I used a guide to find the powerups' and dungeons' locations but I cleared them out myself. Discovering the dungeon room by room to find things and then to finish off with the boss was almost always a really good experience. Towards the later dungeons, it did start to get incredibly hard to make your way through without finding the map and you can easily miss the map and go the other way because there is no correlation as to where you are going to find the maps in the dungeons. Another issue is finding the soft spots of bosses. It is really hard without countless trial and error, and sometimes it doesn't really makes sense. Another aspects of the game is the musics, I'm a **** for 8-bit music and I really like Zelda's main theme, but the other themes are not very good. The dungeon theme is the other theme you hear most throughout the game and it's just boring and repetitive. So overall, this was a fun experience, I'm glad I played such a milestone and I'm really excited to play the next games. (7.9) »

« This is a really good game, and I like it a lot, but it’s not a godsend or anything. It started the rest of the amazing series in a pretty cool way. It was very revolutionary for its time; and though it’s aged, it’s still a good, fun game. I recommend it for anyone who a. wants to play the one that started it all— b. enjoys classic adventure games— or c. wants start the series in order. »
