Description (IGDB)

Set two years after the events of the award-winning Tales of Symphonia for the Nintendo GameCube, Dawn of the New World follows the journey of two new young heroes, Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi, as they seek to uncover the mystery of why their world has fallen into ruin. In their quest, their paths will cross with the original cast of Tales of Symphonia including Lloyd and Colette, as well as a summon spirit known as Ratatosk who claims to be the lord of all monsters. Advancing the combination of story, characters and real-time battles of Tales of Symphonia, Dawn of the New World introduces a new monster recruitment feature in which players can capture more than 200 unique enemies and train them to actively participate in battle. Players can then feed these monsters to make them more effective, and even evolve them into several new fearsome forms. The game also features an updated real-time battle system that lets players move freely in all directions around the battlefield, execute powerful unison attacks and take advantage of a new elemental alignment system for even more strategic depth. Dawn of the New World gives players complete control over a full roster of Tales of Symphonia characters and ally monsters, letting them customize their adventure party into hundreds of unique combinations.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Zentendo 90/100

« If a player can look past the occasionally spotty visuals, the unusually long load times, and a complicated narrative, they can find an excellent RPG experience for the Wii. »

Universo Nintendo 90/100

« The fact is that Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World evolves in some aspects, while stops or even goes back in others. Even so, it doesn't mean it isn't a good game, although it's not as "epic" as the first one. The ones who played the original Tales of Symphonia will see that Dawn of the New World is a new and beautiful adventure, but not as good as the other. And the ones who didn't play it will enjoy the charming characters and the excellent battle system. »

Worth Playing 87/100

« Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is a great follow-up to the GameCube classic and is possibly the best RPG for the Wii. »

Nintendojo 85/100

« Whatever its shortcomings, though, Dawn of the New World is clearly Wii’s best RPG to date. »

3DJuegos 85/100

« Dawn of the New World is a worthy sequel that reflects the good state of the franchise. A deep story, charismatic characters, an impressive soundtrack... This new iteration can be considered as one of the biggest RPG for Wii. »

Vandal 83/100

« Maybe it is not as good as the first one, specially by some unpolished aspects, but it's also true that has improved a lot in certain areas. »

Nintendo Power 80/100

« Dawn of the New World doesn't have the epic feel of the original--the fact that it's easily beaten (not accounting for side quests) in under 30 hours doesn't help--but it's great to revisit this world that I enjoyed exploring when the first Tales of Symphonia was released four years ago. [Holiday 2008, p.78] »

Game Chronicles 80/100

« It is definitely one game that most gamers will not regret spending $49.99 on. If you own a Wii and use it for more than just Wii Sports, you owe it to yourself to pick this highly entertaining game up as soon as you can. »

« One of the worst games I have ever played in my life. Tales of Symphonia Dawn of The New World is a boring mess **** with annoying af characters (with Emil and Marta being some of the worst protagonist in fiction ever), terribly slow pacing, a gamplay that just feels like a cheap Pokemon rip off, and a mess of a story that is not fun or interesting by any strech of imagination... In a few words... It ****. »

« I don't get people who praises first Symphonia. Yes it had a good start, but man how bad last 13 of the game were. Like devs didn't know at the time how to end a game. Dawn of the new World on the other hand have almost perfect end of the game. Well, whole game just feels better than previous one. Fighting is much more dynamic, story captivating, lenght of the game is pretty decent. I've truly enjoyed this game. »

« This game has an undeservedly bad reputation. Probably because they mismarketed it as Symphonia 2, but then made all the Symphonia 1 characters side characters that only visit the party. So just don't go in expecting that. Another problem is that the inbetween story and antagonists were cut short and are pretty undeveloped. Still, the final story & antagonist is pretty good and it has the best (funniest) skits in the series (I know Phantasia, Symphonia1+2, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces, Xillia1+2, Zestiria and Berseria). For me that's worth alot. My primary attraction point to the Tales series is the skits. The characters are fine too. Overall I actually enjoyed this the 2nd most after Xillia, about on par with Abyss and Xillia 2. (Yes, I liked this more than the original Symphonia. Maybe part of the reason I wasn't disappointed with it not being all that Symphonia.) »

« There are big nostalgia goggles when it comes when comparing Dawn vs the OG Symphonia. While i am finishing the first Symphonia again i'm reminded how much i like this one, the Pokemon kind of aspect of the game was a lot of fun to mess with, the characters while cliche can be very nice, specially the whole master and student thing Emil has with Richter throughout the game. Fun game, slow at times, less annoying puzzles than the original that's for sure. fun overall. »

raccoondaddy 7/10

« Right away, you have to know, this about half the size of a standard RPG game. It plays like any other Tales game and has some cool features, like a monster development system; which feels forced at first, but works. Combat is still fun and tense as it always has been. The story and characters seemed forced and almost plays as an epilogue to the original title and the main plot doesn't seem to even matter once you get further in the game. Despite the fact that the newer characters do tend to grow on you, EVENTUALLY. I liked the game overall and by the time I was losing interest in the story, the game was finished. I think it being a shorter game worked out for me. But for the price it was originally sold at, I can see where the anger for the game comes from. »

lavayuki 1/10

« After playing every other Tales game up to Xillia 2, this is by far the worst, especially after playing Symphonia. I could barely stand Marta and her obsessive lovey-dovey scenes, with most of the skits being about how much she loves Emil to the point of mania. Other than that, only 2 main party members with every other character being only temporary and unable to level up/ change equipment and the whole monster capture thing did not appeal to me as a whole. The worst part was the characters though, it's the only Tales where I found the dialogue and skits to be too cringy to listen to that I couldn't bring myself to do a New game plus. »

Super_Cloud 3/10

« I finished the game before on Wii, i was deceived but i did kinda enjoyed seeing the follow up of the story and now i'm trying to do the game again on PS3 few year after and i just can't... Emil & Marta i really hate them both, i'm replaying the game it's like really boring and hard to keep up. I feel like the game lack in quality... It got to be the shortest Tales of, i finished the game in 22 hours... The music are good. Is it a bad game? i don't know but it's not a good Tales of. »

sdc 10/10

« Wonder what the hell's up with the mixed reviews. Sure, it's presentation is disappointing, and not all the characters are great, but this is a diamond in the rough when it comes to RPGs. »
