It does, however, boast an interesting art style, and its gameplay is simple yet engaging enough that almost anyone of any skill level can give it a good crack. There are plenty of unlockable skins and weapons to try out, and although there’s little incentive to replay once you’re done and dusted, it’s a decent way to spend a few hours during the quieter winter months. »

« Shame it turned into one of *those* games but I ended up finishing cleaning up the trophies for the plat last night. Not a very long game however some of the levels can take up to 40 minutes depending on how thorough you search for chests and dialogue options for trophies. About 9 levels in total with a boss at the end; the game is pretty fun for a top-down dungeon crawler. There are 50 weapons to discover with different attacking styles such as swords, guns, stabby weapons, slappy weapons and punchy weapons, however the loot is never randomised and the chests in every level always give you the same one each run, so basically the runs are exactly the same each time and there’s barely any point in replaying. You get an overall score for each level but it barely matters and isn’t too impressive as by the time you beat the level your score will average out the same each time (unless you purposely avoid enemies on specific levels you don’t need to kill any). On the final mission my score literally capped at 999,999 so for some missions you literally hit the score limit. You can die in game however there’s barely any consequence for it; especially on the boss segment at the end, there’s no lives counter and you can just keep dying until you beat the boss (which I didn’t have to do cus I’m gaming). Just a shame there’s, in essence, no true difficulty.Either way, the game is pretty fun and somewhat mindless. The artstyle is cute like crossy roads or trove in a way. Whilst fun it is short and lacks replayability. It was on a fat discount for like £1.60 or something and it’s usually like 20 or 25 quid (??) which is not worth the price in my opinion. I should expect this quality when the discounts are really cheap. »

« Riverbond is an easy win for a clean, simple, and straightforward dungeon crawler for the whole family. It's not rocket surgery, but I think that's why it's a great game to play with the kids. Easy to pickup and play a quick run through of a dungeon, then walk away happy and do something else. »
