GameSpew 90/100

« Borealys Games, the developer of Mages of Mystralia, has really created something special here in my eyes, and it deserves to be played; if not for its spell designing system that truly is extensive, then just for the sheer joy of a hearty and extremely enjoyable unadulterated adventure. »

CGMagazine 90/100

« Mages of Mystralia mixes clever spellcasting and magical customization in a fun fantasy realm that players won’t want to leave. »

Areajugones 85/100

« Mages of Mystralia, as one of the biggest indie prospects of 2017, presents an amazing adventure that, by an incredible magic crafting system and a gorgeous setting, offers an unforgettable journey, which will everlast with deep attachment. »

Game Informer 80/100

« If you don’t mind taking the scenic route, Mages of Mystralia provides the unique opportunity to write your own spell book. Up until the end of the game, I was unlocking new runes that exponentially added to my magical arsenal. Piecing all of those runes into a new master spell made me feel like the most creative mage who’d ever lived, making this light-hearted adventure truly magical. »

Hardcore Gamer 80/100

« Mages of Mystralia is an energetic and clever action-RPG, set in a vibrant and colorful land with a dark history. The heart of the game is its magic system, and the puzzles for unlocking new runes and other goodies keep things from being too combat-heavy. It’s easy to get lost in spell creation, pausing battle to dip into the magic tome to tweak a few runes or throw together something new as the monsters wait patiently for you to pull your head out of the book. Zia is a fun heroine to play as, learning and growing as the story progresses, with a strong character design that never gets lost on the screen. Mystralia’s history is making trouble in the present, but with an arsenal of spell components and the ability to wire them together together to best effect, Zia has a good chance of becoming the hero the world of Mages of Mystralia didn’t realize it needed. »

Ragequit.gr 80/100

« Mages of Mystralia is definitely an enjoyable game, maybe one of the most fun games of the year, but undoubtedly it had the prospect of something more grandeur. Perhaps the inevitable sequel will do the trick. »

TheSixthAxis 80/100

« Mages of Mystralia is a cracking game. It successfully captures the feel of 16 bit adventures and combines them with a fantastic spellcrafting system and the sidequests and character development of modern action RPGs. It isn’t the longest game and some may find the price a little steep given how cheap so many PC games are, but it definitely deserves to do well and I would highly recommend picking it up, even if you wait until a sale discount. »

COGconnected 79/100

« While the magic system that is the core of Mages of Mystralia is outstanding, the rest of it can use some of that creativity as well. It is a game where a sequel may be due, to add to what Borealys Games has made here and really bring this world to life. »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

ItimRB 8/10

« A good indie game that already deserves a sequel. With beautiful graphics and fluid gameplay, the game provides an excellent experience in the well-developed fantasy world, although it could have deepened the content where it would value it even more. Character evolution is mega overpower at the end, making gameplay too easy. The inserted puzzles are interesting, the combats are challenging (in the beginning, in the end it gets very easy) and the narrative together with the background are very fun. It's worth a new game+ in hardcore mode. Extra content and more complex challenges are most welcome. »

Femonnemo 8/10

« Action RPG style. Colorful and pretty graphics, The spell mechanic is cool and by itself is worth the time you will spend with the game. The history is short and does not finish in a meaningful way and that is super lame. It leaves room for Mystralia 2.0. It was worth my time and never bore me. »

DrChocolate 10/10

« Excellent little game. You can finish the story in just under ten hours, but this is a quality title with a creative spellcasting system. Beautiful art, gorgeous soundtrack and atmosphere, challenging puzzles, and adorable characters. Overall, a great old school ARPG. »

Topfpflanze 7/10

« Mages of Mystralia a funny game which reminds of the golden classics of console playing. After a few hours of playing it gets slightly boring, because there is no exploration but just puzzle solving in exactly the order which the developers have intended. The game itself is quite short, and replaying is no fun at all. »

lhmtgame 5/10

« Pros: The game has unique skill system. Playable on most PC from low to high end (not onboard GPU). Cons: Unable to adjust Resolutions (16:9 only) and AA. Sound and music are boring. No highlight NPCs who gave you quests and no map area. The puzzles are not easy at the beginning. »

Scissou 10/10

« Great game ! Love the spellcrafting system, you can mix and customize anything and make it very personal. I think zia is a very likeable character and the game is charming and colorful. It's also supported by a beautiful soundtrack. I strongly recommend it :) »

MikeEgelman 10/10

« Quite simply one of the funnest games to have come out this year. Everything from the soundtrack to the magic system are all really well built. The storyline is fun and though the game isnt that long it leaves you wanting more. Great game! »

frankGreenTea 10/10

« This game is amazing in many way. The possibility to create your own spell is open and will test your creativity and your skill. The graphic are superb and colorful and the adventure is well design and there is no doubt in my mind that you will have a great time exploring the magical world of mystralia »
