Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

« License aside, this is the best golf title I've ever played. If you dig the sport and don't have a GameCube, it's time to buy one. [Oct 2003, p.48] »
« The control is as solid as a rock, the graphics are top-notch, the game modes are plentiful and entertaining… I mean, this is one of those games that is near perfect in every respect. »
« If you're looking for something a bit more accessible and arcade-influenced than most golf games, or if you just love Mario, you can't go wrong with Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. »
« Load times do not exist in this game, no waiting for courses to load, no nothing. »
« The visuals are simply superb, and as we mentioned earlier, the courses look gorgeous and animation is up to the high standard Nintendo has created for itself. »
« Practically begs to be played with other people. [Oct 2003, p.75] »
« The N64 version of "Mario Golf" didn't leave much room for improvement. Lucky for us, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour's enhanced graphics, magnificently tweaked play mechanics and large variety of gameplay modes and characters improved upon the original in every way imaginable. »
« On par with some of Nintendo's best titles. It's the best multiplayer game I've played in months, and might just have more replay value inside it than the super-addictive "Super Monkey Ball." »

« I did not think this game was good as the Mario parties in the GameCube era but after playing a few hours I can say this is one of the best GameCube games! It needs to be on the GameCube classics for Nintendo switch online! »

« I am going through some of the classic Mario sports games after the multiple modern disappointments. This game is fantastic. It builds on everything that was established in Mario Golf 64, which was already exceptional. I appreciate how they didn't try to reinvent the formula, they just did everything they could to enhance it, and they did it wonderfully. While I think the courses are fantastic and add a nice variety, I feel like they could have added more. That was probably the biggest disappointment for me. The variety of characters is nice without too many fillers. The variety of game modes is great. My biggest gripe with it is that the tournament mode follows a predetermined scoresheet, so you aren't technically competing against any CPUs, you're always shooting for the same score. Once I realized what was happening I was very disappointed there. Otherwise, its fantastic. Plenty of modes to keep you busy, but greatly enhanced when playing with other players. I consider this to be one of the best arcade golf games. »
« This game's life depends on if you are dedicated enough. Play to get every character handicap as well as the hidden characters. You have the option of playing mini-games. Some require golfers to hit golf balls through targets and some that actually challenges your golfing skills. It is a lot more fun when you have more then two players. You have a game that was made for all audiences. It does require three or four players to be some major fun. »
« This game is nowhere near as good as its predecessor on the N64. The controls change on you all the time, the music is mostly poor, The courses, characters, and music lack the charm and feel of Mario Golf 64, and the game becomes absurdly broken with importing super long hitting clubs from the Mario Golf Advance Tour Game Boy Advance game. These super long hitting clubs make scoring an Albatross/Double Eagle (The hardest shot to get in all of Golf) much easier than a Hole in One. The exact polar opposite of Mario Golf 64 and real life. »
« The first of the many Mario sports games on the GameCube, and the start of the best era of them! The opening cutscene is absolutely stunning and the perfect way to introduce a golf game, with so much personality. There are seven different golf courses with 18 holes each, bringing a total of over 100 holes! Each course has it’s own distinctive theme, including Lakitu Valley, Blooper Bay, Bowser Badlands and more. The character roster is great with a couple obscure picks including Petey Piranha and Shadow Mario, and this was the game that introduced Diddy Kong to the Mario franchise. The core gameplay and controls work very smoothly. You have the option to go automatic if you’re less experienced or manual to apply a topspin or a backspin. The game was visually amazing at the time and even today it all still looks beautiful. The music is all quite memorable and definitely gives out those charming gamecube vibes. Each character has their own post-hole animations depending how they do, which is a nice touch and really shows the characters’ personalities so well. There are even golfing minigames to play like ring shot, coin shoot, and others that are more of variations of the main game. This makes the sport of golf a thousand times more fun, with so much content to deliver giving it a ton of replay value! »
« When I first got this game from Amazon I absolutely loved it I thought it’s better then the gameboy advance version in my opinion, also I thought it was one of the best Mario sports games in history. »
