« The variety of game modes, the spice of the power shots, the unbelievable graphics, and the endless amount of replayability make Mario Power Tennis possibly one of the best Nintendo games on the market. »

NintendoWorldReport 95/100

« Whether you classify it under sports, party, or fighter, Camelot has produced a fine game. If you are looking for an awesome pick-up-and-play multiplayer game this holiday season, you cannot go wrong with Mario Power Tennis. »

Games Radar 91/100

« A delicious blend of pleasure and pain. Everyone should own a copy of this (and practise lots as well). [NGC] »

XGP Gaming 91/100

« Courts range from Standard to Gimmick. Standard courts are just as they sound. Gimmick courts are courts with bizarre little features added on to make it either easier for you or harder for you, depending on how you play. »

GameBiz 90/100

« Although it might not be much of a tennis simulator with a realistic attitude, it is still tennis at heart and will test your skills even if you're a pro in real life. »

eToychest 90/100

« As a Mario game, it is bursting with charm and laughs from all your favorites, and as a tennis game it is both solid and fun to play - Mario Power Tennis comes Heartily recommended. »

GameSpot 89/100

« This is hands down the single best GameCube tennis offering, and it's also one of the most enjoyable tennis video games around. »

Armchair Empire 89/100

« Great control, fun, lots of stuff to do and solid tennis? Mario Power Tennis is a great game even for those that don't generally like tennis unless Anna Kournikova is playing. »

« I play tennis with my friends and I can say that this game is good. The graphics are good but the gameplay feels slow something »

MetalMariofan64 7/10

« Everything is perfect but IT WOULD BE the Mario Tennis on the Perfection if Developers could have respected Boo voices from Mario Tennis 64. DUDE i wish again my old Boy Boo with his classic voices. I would add a 10 but i think a 7 is better but is good other modes and the scenes are fun »

Spuros73 8/10

« I had a blast playing this game and the gameplay is just AMAZING, definitely the mario tennis game »

HaslageNet 8/10

« The game is worthy of many replays and is best with four players, computer opponents or otherwise. There is just too much court to cover with just one player on each side. Plus, one-on-one matches seem to go by too quickly. On the plus side the game obeys the traditional tennis rules and it will let you know when you make a mistake and why. If you liked the golf game, you should like the tennis game. »

GDsReviews 4/10

« This game has a great soundtrack, but suffers from being too gimmicky compared to its N64 predecessor. »

nintendofan721 9/10

« Tennis in general is kind of a boring sport in my opinion, but this gives it so much life! Once you start up the game you will witness the best opening cutscene in any Mario game to date, which tells a fun story and is a joy to watch! There are a good amount of characters to pick from, with a couple very unique choices like Wiggler and Petey Piranha. Then we have Fly Guy who was kind of lazy and I would have switched him out with Birdo. The courts in this game are all super fun to play, with three basic and seven gimmick courts bringing the total to 10. They’re all based off different games in the Mario series and sub-series like Luigi’s Mansion, WarioWare and Super Mario Sunshine! Gimmicks include ghosts on Luigi’s Mansion and klaptraps on DK Jungle, and they can be turned on or off. The game controls solidly and it’s a large enhancement from the N64 game. Each character has two unique special shots, an offensive and a defensive shot, and they tend to spice things up. There is an item mode that you can play which can be a bit too frantic, but if they balanced it out more it could have been better. The game is visually great with many different references to the games the courts are based on. There are over 100 different music tracks, which is a lot for a Mario Tennis game. There are a bunch of different minigames to play as well with one for each court, including Artist on the Court, Mecha Bowser Mayhem, Chain Chomp Challenge and more, which are all very fun to play. With the heavy amount of customization, this is without a doubt the best Mario Teniis game there is, and there is so much to love about it! »

« They really gave a lot of attention to this game. Every character has his animations, the intro is great and I love the bloopers, too. This kind of things miss in the new games. The gameplay is great. What I don't love are the special shots. They are just... too random. Mini games are very good, too. It's a game that you will play for a lot of time. »
