À propos du jeu

Legends of Eisenwald is an adventure game with tactical battles, RPG and strategy elements. Take the lead of a small feudal army and try to defend your right to survive in this ruthless medieval world.

The mysterious lands of old Germany are waiting for you - it's a land where the superstitions of the time have come to life. This isn’t a fantasy game. There are no elves or dragons here. There are only people - and their passions, sins and fears that often take a tangible form. Which path will you choose? Live according to your conscience? Or live by power and might? Or will you live by justice? And what is your justice, really?

Game features

  • A unique and dynamic combat system - each move is also an attack
  • The ability to individually equip *each* fighter in your army
  • A large selection of weapons, spells and abilities, including the option to use mounted units
  • Diverse upgrade trees, and each unit level up provides cosmetic changes
  • An intriguing non-linear story
  • A distinctive game world without common fantasy cliches
  • Over 50 hours of gameplay within the game. A main campaign consisting of eight chapters plus two additional scenarios.
  • A beautiful symphonic soundtrack in a medieval style
  • An accompanying Scenario Editor with the full set of developer tools

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Similar to games like Disciples 2 and HOMM, there may be points farther into the game where you lose it all, troops, gold, inventory. All those things you worked so hard for. This is part of the game, not a bug. And you wont know when.... Be warned.

Up to 90% sale to celebrate 8 years since coming to Steam Early Access

Legends of Eisenwald appeared on Steam Early Access 8 years ago, on October 7. The game was far from being ready both technically and content wise but we took a risk and released the game. The time is going fast, since then we released Road to Iron Forest DLC, Blood of November and Bastard, yet Legends of Eisenwald remains the main game our studio brought to life. Just to remember, how the game looked back then, you might want to take a quick look at the video the game came to Early Access in October 2013: To celebrate this, I am making our biggest sale ever starting this coming Monday, October 4. Legends of Eisenwald will be discounted to 90% the first time ever along with biggest discounts on our other titles. Don't miss this unique opportunity if you still haven't made your mind and didn't get the game or addons, as there are no plans to repeat it often if ever. The sale will last for a week as usual through October 11 Alex at Aterdux

Avis des critiques et joueurs

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Riot Pixels 85/100

« A true gem for the fans of old-school RPGs. »

GameOver.gr 85/100

« Legends of Eisenwald is one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises that we engaged with this summer. Intriguing storytelling, thrilling plot twists and ambiguous morale decisions are wrapped up in an excellent medieval/ feudal environment. The simple yet addictive turn based battle system, the many upgradeable military units and a well built economic system, raise the game’s status to “totally recommended” for the genre’s fans. »

Softpedia 80/100

« Legends of Eisenwald will certainly offer tens if not hundreds of hours of fun for those who are willing to understand its world and mechanics, and it will be interesting to see how the team at Aterdux expands the formula of the game in the future. »

LevelUp 75/100

« A triumph of raw substance over style, Legends of Eisenwald constantly wins over the heart of the RPG connoisseur despite its incompleteness thanks to its deep battle system and well crafted adventures. A great game for strategy experts. »

Game World Navigator Magazine 74/100

« Every aspect of the game could stand to be improved a little: economic system is superfluous, leveling is hard at the beginning and much easier towards the end, and it’s always weird to take a castle with just a bunch of soldiers. But the atmosphere trumps everything. After all, it’s been a long time since anyone tried to make an RPG in at least quasi-historical setting. [Sept 2015, p.66] »

IGN 73/100

« Quirks aside, Legends of Eisenwald is a strong, simple tactical RPG that’s all the better for staying within its means. »

COGconnected 71/100

« Legends of Eisenwald presents players with a game that takes place on a broad canvas without the freedom to dive deep into it. That is not a bad thing but a different approach. Sometimes that is all a player is looking for. »

GameSpot 70/100

« Strong storytelling and sheer novelty make guiding Heinrich and his pals around the dark forests of old-time Deutschland enthralling...even if you do miss the magic missiles and elves every so often. »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

Voyou 2/10

« Complains about inadequate resolution, but provides no way to change it. Texts too small to be read, but no options to increase size or scale the UI. Of course, it's a text-heavy game. That's what you get when clowns decide to write software. »

« Not a bad game by itself, but practically no fixes in patches for the main problem - gameplay. Yes, it has something new in it at the start, that's why you start playing it. But when you realise that after finishing the training and the first map, you find nothing new, the game upsets you. You continue playing, hoping that maybe it's not over, maybe the game didn't show all of it's potential yet, but no. And then you just delete it. The worst thing is that you also hope that with new maps comes new story, but again no, all the same. »

Temur 10/10

« I got Eisenwald in early access, and it shown great promise. Now that the game is finally out and I got through several maps, I found that I lost interest fairly quickly. The premise of the game is not new - move around the map in semi-real time, fight encounters on a hex grid battlemap. Collect loot, level up, eventually get a couple castles, while continuing through the story. The game takes an unorthodox approach to storytelling - everyone is a bad guy, but does not think they are and rat out their neighbors. This pattern repeats throughout the game where the player is left to decide who's the lesser evil. Tactical combat has potential for the first couple maps, but after this you will settle into more or less same combination of units, where you train them (from militia to footman to knight). This gets old after a while. Tactical map rules are quite cut and dry - you can only attack the closest enemy. The AI is still pretty poor, and the game attempts to balance this "challenge" by filling enemy ranks with spearman and pikemen. Seriously, you will see ridiculous amounts of enemy spearmen, guards and pikemen - characters that have first strike ability. They are fairly useless for the player who is forced to attack all the time, but make a lot of fights very annoying and increase grind times as you pay through the nose to heal your troops. The strategic map action is pretty boring - bandits will recapture your villages or outposts dozens of times, you will go to the same areas to grind the same bandits. Apparently enemy levels up over time, so if you leave some bandits in a corner of the map, they will eventually start to wear plate armor and have warlocks with them. There are better titles with more fun game mechanics, for example Kings Bounty series, which offers a lot more variety of units and better special abilities, as well as more interesting exploration. »

Gisli 10/10

« Amazing game, the best I played in years: atmosphere, story and unique combat system work so well together. Especially I liked the legends - first I thought they were a part of the lore but later on I had to deal with consequences of those legends. The combat seemed simple at the very beginning but the variety of units and different weapons makes it so fun and challenging, especially in higher levels of difficulty. There are a few minor drawbacks: interface needs getting used to, plus I didn't find any handbook or manual. Which on the other hand let me to discover many things on my own. Still, a solid 10 as these things are really minor. »

« Great strategy-RPG game. It combines party management, simple turn based combat, beautiful medieval 3D landscapes, nice histories and missions. Very entertaining I played it on spanish language and it's perfectly translated. Furthermore, this game has the possibility of create your own scenarios. »

« Rip off Mount and Blades map and Disciples combat. Which would be great if ... Pro: - Combat is fun, simple but fun - Music is nice Con: - Very slow movement, it's so annoying I am falling to asleep - Very linear gameplay and story, you have to do quests all the time to meet some enemies to fight, otherwise there is nothing to fight at all - No fantasy aspects at all or only few like healers (with only limited spells, heal, buff, debuff) - Very dumped down leveling of hero with almost uselless skills, I had hard time to choose any becouse all are so bad, that's provide zero motivation to leveling hero or even play (hero does 50 atack and skill add whooping bonus of 2, facepalm) - Units are all generic: lvl 1 - 45 hp and 25 attack lvl 5 - 70 hp and 50 attack ---- so booring - There is no magic, items are boring too For me it's unplayable due to slow paced gameplay, take a quest and then travel 5 minutes in slow motion to get somewere then go back to heal units all in slow motion, very sleepy game and the great combat aka Disciple 2 can't save it. 2 score only for music and combat. I also dislike the German background at all, all names are in German and is hard to remember who is who and who is brother of whatever Olaf, Kurt, any stein or really whatever. By this slow motion movement they are trying to lengh the gameplay and I feel like 90% of gameplay time I am just walking somewhere. »
