Développé par Euphoric Brothers et publié conjointement par Feardemic et le studio, Garten of Banban est sorti le 6 janvier 2023. Réalisé sous Unreal Engine 5, ce titre mêlant aventure, arcade, indépendant et réflexion / puzzle est proposé sur une large palette de plateformes incluant PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4 et 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One et Xbox Series X|S.
L'expérience se déroule dans Banban's Kindergarten, un établissement d'apprentissage autrefois réputé qui a fermé ses portes à la suite de disparitions inexpliquées d'enfants. Le joueur, vraisemblablement un parent fatigué de l'inaction entourant la recherche de son enfant, pénètre dans le lieu mystérieux pour retrouver les disparus et met au jour les secrets horrifiques de l'endroit, sans perdre la vie ni la raison. Pour explorer l'établissement et avancer, il utilise un drone volant qui lui sert également de compagnon face à la solitude et à l'effroi. Les mascottes de la structure, le Banban And Friends Gang, rappellent que personne n'était censé se sentir seul dans ce kindergarten.
L'accueil critique et communautaire s'avère contrasté, l'œuvre affichant un score agrégé de 34,51. TheXboxHub a jugé que Garten of Banban n'était pas un très bon jeu, le trouvant visuellement acceptable et court, mais loin d'être effrayant, tout en relevant une ambiance perturbante et des énigmes plutôt correctes. Generación Xbox a quant à elle indiqué que pour les joueurs habitués à Resident Evil et Dead Space, le titre pouvait sembler un énième jeu indépendant. Du côté des joueurs sur Metacritic, certains ont regretté une durée de vie très courte, mentionnant avoir terminé le jeu en dix minutes tout en concédant quelques bons moments, alors qu'un autre a sévèrement critiqué le titre en le traitant de copie de bas étage dénuée d'intérêt.

« It's a game that, for those of us who are used to Resident Evil and Dead Space, will seem like just another indie game of the many that there are, but if it has somehow become so viral that you can buy the dolls on Amazon, maybe there is something that we are missing. And it's that I really can't explain why it is so viral, with its simple appearance , perhaps because of a specific moment that some successful streamer catapulted it. But once you play it, you think that it has something special, something, at the very least, curious, different and worthy of admiration. »
« Garten of Banban 1 isn’t a very good game. It looks fine, it’s short, but it’s far from scary. It is however, unsettling, complete with pretty decent puzzles, happily dangling the carrot just enough that you want to continue on. »
