Draugen
Draugen
Description (IGDB)
Draugen is a first-person psychological horror adventure, set amongst the deep fjords and towering mountains of Norway’s awe-inspiring west coast. The game is a dark and disturbing journey into the pitch black heart of Norwegian national romanticism, as seen through the eyes of an American nature photographer, botanist and entomologist.
Histoire (IGDB)
Draugen is set in the early 1920s and delves into the deepest, darkest secrets of a remote fishing community where every single soul has mysteriously vanished. As the player explores the tiny settlement, gathering clues and memories, and unearthing the truth behind a terrible tragedy, they will learn more about the history of the village and its inhabitants. And they will come to see that behind even the most innocent of facades lurks the potential for malice. But there is more to this place than meets the eye. From time to time, a woman in black can be spotted in the distance. Who is she, and what is her connection to this place? Who is the little girl singing broken lullabies as the sky begins to darken? And when night falls, and those last few, precious drops of kerosene in the lamp feed a fragile, flickering flame, what hides out there in the darkness and in the cold, black sea?

Avis des joueurs Steam
Le scénario ne cesse de surprendre, j'ai tout de même été un peu frustré sur la fin où j'attendais un dénouement. Beaucoup de mystères, j'ai hâte de découvrir la suite des évènements !

Long time, no see! But we missed you and actually have a small community update for Draugen… *Pretend there’s a drumroll sound here* Our Discord has been updated to include Draugen (along with our other older games)! This means there’s finally a place to discuss the Fretland brothers or share fan art of Lissie. We’re still working hard to create games we think you’d enjoy, and Discord is one of the best places to keep up to date. There will also be some exclusive giveaways for old RTG merch in the future, but you probably don’t care about that. Free merch… Given away for free… People tend to not like that kind of stuff. Anyway, we’d love to see you there! You can join through the QR code below or by clicking this link: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/33929866/0e756d1576bc6abfa184edff91150610c31db234.png
Have you played… Draugen?
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. Draugen is described as a “fjord noir”, a story-heavy mystery set in an isolated (in fact, abandoned) town in 1920s Norway. It’s also got a character called Alice in it, which is a good sign. She’s the teenage ward of bookish American nerd Edward, and he’s dragged her half way across the world to Graavik to find his missing sister Betty. Things, predictably, aren’t what they seem. (more…)
Wield weaponised words in Dreamfall dev's new game Dustborn
Red Thread Games, the Norwegian developer behind Dreamfall Chapters and Draugen, has revealed a brand new game called Dustborn. It's a storied, single-player action adventure about a black lady called Pax who recruits and leads a group of misfit friends with weird powers on a road-trip across the Divided States of America (that's how it's referred to). It's brightly coloured and looks like a graphic novel in motion, and it's going to have more action than in previous Red Thread games. Brilliantly, you'll also be able to wield weaponised words. They'll be fuelled by misinformation and used to fight, manipulate and motivate.Read more

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Draugen didn’t make me a fan of walking simulators overall, as its excellent insight is more exceptional than a norm. However, it made me a fan of Edward and Lissie and the particular brand of storytelling designed around them. I was happy and most curious when the ending credits promised that the dynamic duo will return. »
« There’s Norway you won’t be engrossed in this beautifully crafted and well written Scandinavian mystery. »
« Intense and emotional journey into the past, carried by lively dialogue and interesting characters. »
« A haunting game that will haunt you for a while after you finish it. »
« Whereas a more compelling introduction could have better grabbed the player’s attention, Draugen’s plot and design decisions are mostly done for good reason. Typically not one to rush through a game, I nonetheless eagerly consumed it in a single sitting. By the time the credits rolled, I had no regrets about letting myself be absorbed in this quaint rural locale and its captivating tale for a scant few hours of my time. »
« The game is positively gorgeous, the music is extremely engaging, and while not everyone might like the slow pace of this game genre, those of you who do will take part in an adventure that will leave you staring into nothingness, to the point where you may experience memories you never actually thought you had. All in all, it is definitely a game that deserves a place in any adventurous gamer's digital library. »
« Draugen is not a revolutionary game, but it is a smart one. The story teeters between being overly explanatory and too ambiguous but never manages to succumb to either. Additionally, the two lead characters feel deftly crafted and relatable. The short length and a lack of replay value may deter some, but Draugen is a mystery worth losing yourself in. »
« Draugen is an enthralling series of mysteries wrapped in a beautiful, haunting landscape. Although some of the game might leave you stumbling around or questioning its direction, it's hard not to play it to the end to find out what happened. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« Interessantes Drehbuch. Es ist unterhaltsam, der Handlung und ihren Hintergründen zu folgen, aber spielerisch ist es simpel und bietet keine Entscheidungsmöglichkeiten; wir folgen einfach dem Drehbuch. »
« First of all, Red Thread are absolute legends as far as narrative in gaming is concerned. After 3 excellent Longest Journey games, Draugen is both completely different and yet still recognizable as a Ragnar Tornquist/Red Thread game. It is NOT a point and click game, it is a first person folk mystery game. Also, like MANY games, it utilized government grants for funding. Now, here in America, we have a tyrant who thinks the government should only fund things he likes, but many countries give out artistic grants to help smaller teams. It is not in any way some sort of “propaganda” as a certain long-winded and massively misinformed commenter put it. So what does this mean? It means like all of Red Thread’s games, they are focused solely on delivering a compelling narrative experience. Is it perfect, no, but other than it being a little unpolished, it’s a wonderful game that achieves what it sets out to do, it pulls you into a world of folklore that you may not be familiar with, allowing you to slowly take in the mysterious island you find yourself on. I write this not just as a massive fan of the team, but also out of annoyance with griefers who like to smear people they perceive as “them” and not “us”. Red Thread’s most recent game is very blatantly a progressive leaning game and it wears that with pride. But to lambast Draugen, a beautiful and massively under appreciated game with no real “political” message, and to target the developer as some kind of government propaganda machine, and really just to waste a lot of people’s time with bad faith reviews is simply absurd. So to everyone, left, right, conservative, liberal, whatever, if you like old timey mysteries, and folk tales and ghost stories, give Draugen a try! It’s often on sale! And if that other person is reading this, do some research on government grants. I don’t think you understand how they work. (Of course you also don’t seem to understand what a point & click game is so…) »
« It is not the worst examples of this kind of game but there is no ending the story line is just left unknown and i was curious at first but at the end im still curious. »

VOTO: 6.5/10 »
« Not the best in its genre. Gets a bonus point for pacing, but is quite predictable and doesn't bring much to the table »
« Draugen may not be for everyone - it is primarily an interactive linear narrative with limited opportunities for choices that impact your emotional experience of the story rather than the story itself - but those who have are happy to spend a few hours on a compelling story will find it engaging and suspenseful. These players (players like myself) should consider this game highly recommended. I do feel the game could have been given slightly more length, but this is because I wanted the story of Edward and Alice to breathe a little more, not because the story is too short. By the end, as the credits rolled, I was happy to learn that these characters will return. Hopefully with a little more choice, hopefully with a little more breathing room for their relationship (and their understanding of themselves) to develop, but otherwise just as they are. »
