Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Obviously Final Fantasy VIII looks technically primitive today in comparison to the newer titles out there. However, all the elements of a truly great JRPG are in there. There’s the incredible, nuanced, and philosophically valuable narrative, the wonderful characters (aside form Zell), a vivid art direction that shines through, even if the technical blocks are basic, and a soundtrack that will never age. Final Fantasy VIII is a masterpiece, and I’m glad that it’s now properly accessible on newer consoles. »
« At least in the time that I’ve spent with it, I’ve not noticed any significant issues with sound, graphics and so on. It plays, looks, and sounds just like a remember it, with a new coat of paint tossed on top to make the overall look a little more appealing. There’s not a lot else to say about Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, other than you should absolutely pick this up when you have a chance, it’s easily the best version of the game available. »
« Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is nothing more or less than a must buy. The graphical updates aren’t perfect, but the story, setting, and soundtrack remain as enchanting as ever. More importantly, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered’s watertight combat mechanics and progression system still feel as revolutionary now as they did back in 1999; pushing the limits of the traditional JRPG to produce something that manages to feel wholly unique within an ever crowded genre. »
« Final Fantasy spent a decade constructing idols and Final Fantasy VIII demolished every one of them. Its elaborate, extravagant, and chaotic parade of ideas marched toward an evolutionary dead end and ensured there would never be another game like Final Fantasy VIII. Even by Remastered’s distressing modernization, Final Fantasy VIII’s paradigm shifting idiosyncrasies still showcase one of the most fearless and contemplative models of its medium. Final Fantasy VIII is a classic for people immune to the charms of classics. »
« As long as you can get the hang of the unique and intricate combat system, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered delivers one of the most enthralling narratives in the long running franchise that still holds up 20 years later. »
« The return of Final Fantasy VIII is a cause for celebration. The work of DotEmu is worthy of admiration because they have delivered what can easily be the best of the remastering of the Final Fantasy games of that time. »
« Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is the perfect way to revisit this classic or experience it for the first time. Its themes are more relevant than ever, and its battle system, while flawed in some aspects, is weird, fun, and encourages creativity. »
« A wonderful story that is now supported by great looking characters and backgrounds, Final Fantasy VIII is worth the pickup twenty years after it's initial launch. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« It's hard to put a number on something I used to play and love when I 9 years old vs now nearly 30 years later. This was the very first FF game that I played in the series, a big reason I fell in love with Final Fantasy franchise in general. Re-playing it now 27 years later, I see why I got so hooked but at the same time, feel kinda frustrated over some other thngs that probably didn't bother me as a kid. I really don't like the "draw" system, but otherwise it's a classic Final Fantasy. It's hard to reccommend this to somebody who hasn't payed before, but for old timers wanting to re-visit theyr childhood game, it's a full on pleasure! The quality of life x3 movement speed, no encounters and "god-mode" help to ease the pain here and there, but be warned, final battle can be really hard if you just casually breeze through the game and not learn the Junction system etc. »
« This is one of the best in the series. FFVIII has cool characters and excellent CG FMV movies. The new remaster improves the graphics and character models a bit but the core game play remains. There are some nifty options to make your experience a bit smoother like full magic which means you don't have to spend your time drawing magic more than once or worrying about using your stock. Wish they had done more on the graphics side, however, the main reason to play this is the characters and story. This is classic Final Fantasy with proper turn based battles and CG cutscenes. »
« This is by far the worst Final Fantasy game. The junction system is boring and repetitive save points are bad. It’s very uninteresting and it was a waste of my money. I’d honestly even put Final Fantasy two above this one. I don’t understand why people like this overrated junk »
« Masterpiece The Best Final Fantasy, I Love the History, gameplay and Art Style and Soundtrack is amazing »
« Bad remaster but the game is peak. Just emulate instead probably. Though if you want those Pocket Station GFs you probably want to play the remaster... »
« 9.6 Pros: • Great story and super likeable characters.• After getting a good grasp the combat system is very fun and addictive.• Music is very good, I found a couple of new favorites.• Sublime moments that are at the series' peak, before and after this game.• In my opinion, one of the best final boss fights in the series.• Great art direction and character design, very thought provoking. Cons:• The pacing can be clumsy at times.• If not fully grasped, the combat system can be not fun at all.• Summon animations can't be skipped and you're going to use them more often than not (the remaster version sort of fix this with x3 fast forward, but still). »
« Worst Comabt System in any FF Game ever. Fk that Draw System! Not even the Story is good ( okay Laguna Part is solid, but except that everything ****). Best Part is the Music, but almost every FF Game has good music. »
