La presse a salué l'ampleur de l'aventure, GamePower évoquant un jeu « flooded with quests and side adventures », tandis que CheckOut a jugé qu'il « may very well be the best computer-based role-playing game of all time », et plusieurs joueurs cités sur Metacritic y voient « the gold standard for isometric role-playing games » ou « one of the greatest RPG and videogames of all time ».

« It's not just vast, but flooded with quests and side adventures. There is always something to do in this game and, after that, there's always something more. »

« Baldur’s Gate 2 (including Throne of Bhaal) remains the gold standard for isometric role-playing games. Its masterfully written story, complex tactical combat and unforgettable villain make it an absolute must-play legend, With a classic essence that Baldurs Gate 3 unfortunately lost. »

Ghost_27 10/10

« This is hands down one of the greatest RPG and videogames of all time. Baldurs Gate 2 has an incredibly rich world with lots of companions with stories some hit or miss. You get to enjoy high level DND and get access to some of the coolest spells and items. Infinite replay value and jon irenicus is one of the best villains of all time. I wasn't expecting this game to hold up but when I played this game it became my obsession for a month straight. This is the perfect RPG and nothing else compares. »

« An epic RPG masterpiece blending deep story, rich characters, and strategic gameplay—an unforgettable journey through Faerûn. »

Baldur93 10/10

« Classic masterpiece. The story is great, the characters feel like actual people. Even today, only a few game managed to get even close to this high level of an RPG. »

coaldevil 10/10

« The game us based on one of the worst dnd versions, but it is still the best RPG ever. »

NicolasMeredith 2/10

« Aside from its gameplay and tech problems, Baldur's Gate 2 also misses the mark with its story. It feels all over the place, with flat characters and boring dialogue that don't make you care. The plot just doesn't have the depth or vibe of the original Baldur's Gate games, leaving you feeling disconnected from the world and its people »

Keysa88 10/10

Harmfulwumps 10/10

« This game is a CRPG masterpiece that set the bar decades ago and still hasn’t been topped! It’s a love letter to D&D fans, created by a team who understood the source material perfectly. Avoid the "enhanced" edition - it dilutes the original charm with clunky additions and changes that miss the mark. »
