Wipeout 2048
Wipeout 2048
Description (IGDB)
The single player campaign progresses through the first three years of the A.G.R.C. (Anti-Gravity Racing Championships): 2048, 2049, and 2050. All events have pass and elite pass targets. Unless the elite pass criteria is met unknowingly, it will only be displayed after a player passes an event. If the player fails to complete an event multiple times in a row, the event can be skipped. Skipping an event will allow the player to move on to the next available event; a player can return to a skipped event at any time in order to try it again.

« If not for the irritatingly long loading times, this might well be the best launch title for the PlayStation Vita Sony has in store for us. The feeling of speed still provides a satisfyingly big wow-factor, while the cross-platform options turn this title into a handheld pioneer. A must-have for every Vita-owner. »
« Wipeout 2048 isn't just one of the best launch games (an achievement in itself, as the standard is very high), it's also one of the best games in an excellent series. »
« I definitely think Wipeout 2048 is worth checking out, and from what I've seen it seems to be the racing game to beat amongst the Vita launch titles. I've heard and seen dubious things from both Modnation Racers and Asphalt (and Ridge Racer is MIA at the moment), so if you need to get your racing fix this seems like the way to go. It's a legitimately great experience on the new handheld, and looks absolutely fabulous on the OLED screen. I highly recommend picking it up. »
« This WipEout 2048 is a true technology feat. Visually sublime, fast as hell, it's a comprehensive game as well. If the 3 seasons of the solo campaign will not challenge much until the last races, they will make a good training for the enhanced strategic elements, before heading into the multiplayer campaign. A splendid title, perfect for nomad play. »
« Despite the long loading times (typically 50 seconds before each track) and the excruciating learning curve for non-pros, WipEout 2048 offers a tactically exciting, rewarding and challenge campaign mode with some gloriously-designed tracks and nice variety of events. »
« This is the best Wipeout in a long time, and the best introduction to the series a newcomer could wish for. »
« Great visuals, sounds, controls and overall gameplay make for a remarkable experience on a portable device. »
« Everything about 2048 oozes class, screams quality and does more than enough to force the hardcore to take a serious look at Vita. [Issue#119, p.92] »

« Outstanding graphics the system. Tight, responsive game that's thoroughly addictive. Well worth a try and even more content added through DLC. »
« I was completely new to this series and this didn't disappoint. The multiplayer mode is the best part of this game for me. »
« The last Game from Studio Liverpool is still the best racer by a landslade on the PSVita and a must-own in any VITA collection, dont hessitate to jump, blast and ride all over this game. »
« While a Wipeout game without a 60FPS lock might seem preposterous, 2048 seems to give us quite a lot of other things to like about it, so I can forgive it for the, still, missed framerate lock. In spite of that, we have sprawling beautiful graphics on both systems. This time around the art style feels fresh, showcasing a new direction (which fits right in). Sometimes seeing a sharp turn (or a potential detour) is a challenge on the small Vita screen, but that is more of a hardware problem. The soundtrack, ofcourse, is a great selection of speedy electronic tracks that are, as if, created to be part of the game. The option to make our own soundtrack is gone, and is dearly missed. The controls are tight as always, with the minor exclusion of the left Vita thumbstick, which tends to be rather slippery. Other than that, the fast gameplay that is a series staple is back and still extremely fun. Older fans of the series might notice a slight downgrade of the speed factor, though that might be due to the missing 60 FPS lock (again); at any case, it's not something important or gamebreaking. The massive racing campaign, though in reality quite repetitive, is worth the player's time, as it is well paced with different game modes (including the infamous, awesome Zone levels) and a progressively harder AI. Online matchmaking is a bit of a chore, and lacks a lot of options one would expect to be present. Another missing feature, that I loved from previous WipeOut titles, was the opportunity to create your own ship skin, but there are a few more ships available through DLC (ofcourse). The aircrafts provided are sufficient and powerful enough to blast through the game. Wipeout 2048 is one of the best Vita games, and one of the best racing games of recent years. It deserves a place on the shelf of every racing game fanatic or Vita/PS3 owner. I've found that playing on the go suits the game best, as it seems to be built with portable in mind, so I recommend the Vita version over the PS3 version. If not - get it either way, because it's fast, fun and frantic action that deserves to be experienced, even by those who are not introduced to the series yet. It's a good time to become a Wipeout fan. »
« This game is really fun but i would rather play this on a ps3 or ps4. The game is a really fast paced racing game that runs at a fairly decent frame rate but i would preferably have it run at 60 frames per second. this game is fairly easy to find under 20 dollars and it is worth a try. »
« Even today it's one of the best looking games on the Vita. It's also at times one of the best racing games available, console or otherwise. The campaign is filled with a bunch of bonus levels that branch off from the main ones. Completing them will often reward you with a new racer. It will also keep you coming back with the hopes of "Elite" passing each of it's levels. However the campaign does get needlessly difficult and frustrating the closer you get to the end. The last season can be an anger inducing nightmare very often. It can really feel unfair. The online experience is still kicking and I never had an issue finding a race. It's unique take on level based multiplayer that has you completing objectives in order to progress is novel and often leads you to feeling like you've achieved something even if you didn't come in first. However some of the later objectives can be tedious to complete. Outside of the long load times I don't really have any other issues with the game. It's just an all around great racer, and while at times it can be angering when it demands perfection from you, it's still packed with enough great stuff to make it an easy recommendation to any racing game fan. For them it may even be worth picking up a Vita just for it. For gamers less-experienced with the genre do expect frustration as you get further into it, but always expect to be impressed with it. »
« This Game is Perfect, I Have this Game since 2012 and I'm still addicted to this Race! The Tracks are very detailed and the Ships are very Amazing! I have no issue about this Game. The DLC is Also Perfect and fix bug where the load Times was to long becomes Short now. In short, its still the Best Racing Game! »
« Wipeout 2048 is a cool racing game. It has beautiful graphics and good gameplay. The controls were okay for me on the "Racer" config. The loading takes a bit long time, but it's still good. The game is fun for me, I really enjoy it. »
