Sorti le 6 juillet 2015 et développé par Psyonix, Rocket League est un jeu hybride mêlant soccer arcade et chaos vehiculaire, reposant sur un moteur physique avancé pour des commandes intuitives. Ce titre de course, de sport et indépendant propose des matchs en ligne occasionnels et compétitifs, un mode saison hors ligne, des mutateurs modifiant les règles, ainsi que des modes basket et hockey, le tout construit sur Unreal Engine 3 et disponible sur PC, PlayStation 4, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S et Linux. La presse a salué l'expérience multijoueur, le Telegraph évoquant un mélange exaltant de chaos et de contrôle faisant de Rocket League l'un des meilleurs jeux multijoueurs de l'année, tandis que Sporting News a relevé le plaisir de jeu croissant avec la progression des compétences. Certains joueurs regrettent en revanche la baisse de performance sur Switch, une dimension perçue comme pay-to-win, ou encore déplorent la communauté et des décisions liées à l'éditeur Epic Games.

« Rocket League is terrible. Its performance and resolution on the Switch have dropped drastically in recent updates. The game is somewhat pay-to-win because of the cars you have, and the matchmaking is awful—it never matches you with someone of your skill level. I don't understand how it's considered such a good game by so many, especially on the Switch. It's just another run-of-the-mill game. »

« Ive played this game since its conception. Toxic lobbies always. People get mad after 1 goal, or a accidental bump so they pout like that 7 yr old kid they are and throw the rest of the game and wont forfeit. Report features are pathetic. I report for match throwing all the time and nothing happens. this game has gone so far downhill over the years. I logged on after 2 years of not playing, and its worse than it was. stay far away from this game. the devs do toke take it seriously so i am out for good. »
« O jogo teve um auge muito forte, proporcionando momentos de grande diversão. No entanto, a experiência atual já não mantém o mesmo nível, apresentando sinais claros de desgaste ao longo do tempo. A aquisição pela Epic Games parece ter influenciado mudanças que, embora tenham reduzido certos aspectos predatórios, também tornaram a experiência menos envolvente em alguns pontos. Mecânicas importantes foram substituídas por outras menos interessantes, impactando diretamente a dinâmica do jogo. Um exemplo marcante é a remoção do sistema de trade, que era um dos principais fatores de engajamento. Apesar das justificativas relacionadas à monetização, sua retirada acabou sendo feita de forma brusca, sem uma alternativa à altura. Com o passar dos anos, o jogo vem se tornando mais nichado, com uma base de jogadores mais restrita e dominada por veteranos, o que pode dificultar a entrada de novos jogadores. No geral, é um título que já foi extremamente relevante, mas que hoje enfrenta dificuldades para manter o mesmo nível de atratividade. »
« I have been playing Rocket League now for about 6 months and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I like the fast-paced gameplay and how wide range the skill gap can be between ranks. One thing Rocket League offers that many other games lack, is being able to finish a game in under 10 min. Sometimes I don't want to play a 20-40 min game and just want to hop on for a game or two and that's very doable with Rocket League. The car variations and decals are very creative as well. I love customizing my cars with all different color ways available. However, there is one thing I have found to struggle sometimes and that is when playing a ranked game, I sometimes end up in a lobby with someone who is a higher rank than I am, which makes the gameplay a little unfair in the fact that it's supposed to be skill-based matchmaking. Also, I struggle to play with friends that are not on PlayStation. It will often not allow me to invite other cross-platform players. Overall, the game provides a great experience for the user and can be played by literally anyone. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in a new game. »
