1993 LEWIS & CLARK COUNTY, MONTANA, US Ten years ago, teenager Nicole and her mother left the family hotel after discovering her father Leonard's affair with, and pregnancy of Rachel, a girl her own age who eventually committed suicide. Now that both of her parents have passed, Nicole hopes to fulfill her mother’s last will to sell the hotel and make amends to Rachel's relatives. With the will and determination to put that chapter behind her, she returns to the hotel with the family’s lawyer to audit the decaying structure. As the weather unexpectedly turns for the worst, Nicole has no way to leave the large mountain lodge, and finds support in Irving, a young FEMA agent, using one of the first radio telephones ever built. With his help, Nicole starts to investigate a mystery far deeper than what people in the valley thought. A story of love and death, where melancholy and nostalgia melt into a thrilling ghost tale.

Il y a dix ans, alors qu'elle était adolescente, Nicole et sa mère ont quitté l'hôtel familial après avoir découvert la liaison que son père entretenait avec Rachel, une jeune fille de son âge, qui est tombée enceinte de lui et s'est suicidée.
Maintenant que ses deux parents sont décédés, Nicole espère accomplir la dernière volonté de sa mère en vendant l'hôtel et en se rachetant auprès de la famille de Rachel. Elle revient à l'hôtel accompagnée de l'avocat de la famille pour inspecter le bâtiment délabré.
Mais le temps se gâte soudainement et Nicole, désormais dans l'impossibilité de quitter le grand chalet, trouve du soutien auprès d'Irving, un jeune agent de la FEMA, en utilisant l'un des tout premiers radiotéléphones.
Grâce à son aide, Nicole commence à enquêter sur un mystère bien plus profond que ce que pensaient les habitants de la vallée. Un récit d'amour et de mort où la mélancolie se mêle à la nostalgie pour donner naissance à une histoire de fantômes palpitante.
