Quern: Undying Thoughts, développé et édité par Zadbox Entertainmen avec la participation de Blue Brain Games, est paru le 28 novembre 2016 sur PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One et PlayStation 5. Ce jeu d'aventure indépendant de réflexion, construit sous Unity, place le joueur dans la peau d'un personnage arrivé sur une île dont le portail se referme définitivement derrière lui, l'obligeant à explorer des décors et à résoudre des énigmes à complexité progressive pour dévoiler les mystères du lieu et l'histoire qui le lie à sa propre présence. L'expérience se présente comme une aventure à la première personne où les tâches ne sont pas des unités séquentielles isolées mais un ensemble complexe dans lequel il est possible d'errer et d'expérimenter librement, un résultat apparemment absurde pouvant servir de clé plus tard grâce aux connaissances acquises en cours de partie. La durée de parcours est estimée à environ quatorze heures pour l'histoire principale et quatorze heures et demie pour une complétion intégrale, le titre étant proposé au prix de 22,99 euros.
L'accueil critique a été favorable, le score Metacritic s'établissant à 83 et la note agrégée à 82,19. La presse a salué l'œuvre, comme le relève Games.cz qui y voit un puzzle adventure soigné constituant une pièce d'art, ou Game Debate qui le qualifie de titre incontournable pour les amateurs du genre au regard de son rapport qualité-prix. Certains joueurs sur Steam expriment leur appréciation pour l'ambiance, la longueur ressentie ou la qualité des énigmes et du monde visuel, tandis que d'autres sur Metacritic soulignent que la difficulté de certains puzzles est élevée et ne convient pas à tous, ou regrettent le manque d'indices directs pour l'usage des objets trouvés.

It’s worth seeing through to the end. »

« You can enjoy the escape room game that has difficult puzzles at home. It has nice story and is a well-made puzzle game. But many puzzles in this game has high difficulty level. Quern is the game, in which you will spent first 10-15 minutes to fix motion blur effect and by optimising graphic setting, because your computer with 1050 TI inside is not able to provide you 60fps in game with skyrim of 2011 graphic and you will try to play with gamepad, but you will switch to mouse and keyboard soon, because xbox gamepad in this game is works awful! "Okay, but why you've spent 20 hour in this game?!" - you will ask me and my - because you will forget about this problems within 15 minutes and after that you will enjoy the game! This is great game based on riddle solving mechanic. Quern is offering a interesting story, elaborated world with good puzzles, that are seamlessly sewn into it. Riddles looks differently, so you are not tired for solving same thing over and over again, with different coplexity levels, which gaves you a time to rest after a hard puzzle on which you might have spent several hours and also important to mention that you won't be able to create a one single formula to solve all of them as it's been done in many other games. If you still reading the comments and hesitating - go and play this game, belive me, you won't regret! For me this game will now on stay on the same level as Witcher, Hellblade, Dishonored and other great games in which I have spent my time with pleasure. »
