Nintendo Life 90/100

« Sunset Riders finally gets its due as this beloved arcade classic hits Switch with a bang. It's nothing but pure side-scrolling boss-blasting fun, the likes of which are often imitated but never quite captured. There's a reason so many people remember this game so fondly; it's got personality to spare. One of the greatest games that Hamster has deigned to release and as far as we're concerned one of the crown jewels of Arcade Archives. Can we have the spiritual sequel Mystic Warriors next, Hamster? Please? »

Pure Nintendo 85/100

« Arcade Archives: Sunset Riders for the Nintendo Switch is a clear indication of why the game deserves to be placed in the upper echelon of arcade classics. It’s non-stop joy from start to finish, offering an effective blend of comedy and action that you’re free to beat with either skill or restarts. »

« Very cool game to play, the gameplay is kind of a complete madness and a little frustrating with the difficulty at some moments, but still it gives you a nice old west vibe, the controls are very fluid and the sound design amazing, it also has one of the most badass soundtracks ever, specially the one that plays on the first and last stage. »

« I'm writing from the perspective of having played both the original Arcade version and the SNES version. While it is overall a very fun game, it is bogged down by its overly difficult boss fights. Thankfully this version of the game (from what I've researched) lets you have unlimited continues and you continue from where you died, which makes that major downside turn moreso into a minor inconvenience. If you're playing the original console versions however, you not only have a set amount of continues, but you restart the level when you continue. I'm glad this version seems to stay more true to the arcade than the console. I would give the console version a 6/10 for the annoying boss fights, but this version I give an 8 due to the arcade style unlimited continues. Aside from the bosses, very fun game with good visuals and music to boot. Definitely a fun co-op experience. »

« Uno de los juegos 2D mas increíbles y difíciles que tuve la oportunidad de jugar en mi infancia. Cualquiera puede pasárselo con vidas infinitas, pero te reto a que lo hagas con 3 :D »
