Primal Planet
Primal Planet

« Primal Planet rekindles metroidvania magic with its lush Jurassic setting and delightfully perilous exploration. Even in a genre crowded with competitors, this indie standout reminds you how satisfying the formula can be when atmosphere, combat, and clever progression truly click. »
« Primal Planet is a gorgeous and dinosaur filled adventure that can stand tall next to the best metroidvania games out there. »
« Primal Planet is a pixel art metroidvania with survival mechanics, free exploration, RPG-style progression, and an emotional story without dialogue, starring a caveman and his dinosaur companion. »
« There are lots of great things to be had in Primal Planet. The time period they base the game on is something we rarely explore in games. On top of that, the pixelated world design is stunning, and I think the world itself looks incredible. The combat is also very good, although sometimes it does enter soulslike territory. And yes, there’s the map design that could get some improvements here and there. Did that deter me from playing? Not at all, I liked the fact that you can start crafting stuff, exploring the map and finding items/resources is always cool, and the animations/small cutscenes they have truly add a lot of character and personality to the game. Yes, there will be some frustration here and there, but in the end, the game is extremely fun, although it can take a bit to get used to some of its elements. »
« Primal Planet may not be the best Metroidvania ever made, but it features an incredibly cool world and satisfying gameplay. It doesn’t hurt that it offers some genuinely beautiful pixel art on top of that. It’s not an absolute must-play, but fans of the genre digging through the loads of solid but uninspired games being made these days will find that Primal Planet rises above most of the pack. »
« With its high points outweighing its low points, Primal Planet sets the platforming action in the harsh survival of a Stone Age populated by dinosaurs and invaded by alien ships. The mid-campaign, with its narrative emptiness and trivialization of some mechanics, gradually loses the emotional strength and gameplay dynamic of the beginning, which is compounded by the poorly functional mapping. However, those who enjoy facing dinosaurs and exploring the corners of dangerous, interconnected 2D worlds will have reason enough to venture into this prehistoric world. »
« With its stunning pixel art, evocative atmosphere, and touching story told without words, Primal Planet stands out for its audiovisual excellence and unique blend of prehistory and sci-fi, yet its shallow survival mechanics, repetitive combat, poor map system, and weak translation prevent it from reaching its full potential. »

« Primal Planet is the most fun I’ve had with a game since Kingdom Two Crowns… but with dinosaurs, hugs, and way more heart. Where Two Crowns is all about running your little monarch back and forth to build up a kingdom, Primal Planet drops you into a gorgeous prehistoric world to explore at your own pace. You’re not just defending from enemies you’re climbing cliffs with spears, swimming through glowing underwater caves, and yes… hugging your pixel-art wife before heading out. The pixel art is out of this world: dinosaurs roaming, plants swaying, and each biome feeling like it’s actually alive. And instead of just building defences, you’re surviving crafting tools, lighting torches, and figuring out clever ways to move forward. If you loved the simplicity and charm of Kingdom Two Crowns but wished it had a bigger sense of adventure and more emotional punch, Primal Planet delivers in spades. Thank you to the developers for creating something magical, Im very hard to please when it comes modern release games, this has really captured my imagination. The addition of local coop is really fun and really makes the game shine having a buddy to help you along the way and figure things out together. Fingers crossed for an expansion pack or sequel! Go buy this game now on STEAM and support these developers! »
