Paladins, développé par Evil Mojo Games et Hi-Rez Studios et édité par Hi-Rez Studios, est sorti le 2 mai 2017 sur PC (Microsoft Windows), PlayStation 4, Mac, Nintendo Switch et Xbox One. Ce jeu de tir et de stratégie en équipe, propulsé par l'Unreal Engine 3, se déroule dans un univers fantastique où les joueurs incarnent des Champions du Royaume maniant armes et magie, avec un casting allant de tireurs d'élite humains à des gobelins pilotes de robots, des elfes mystiques et des dragons en jetpack. Chaque champion dispose d'un ensemble de compétences propre et de nouveaux personnages sont régulièrement ajoutés, tandis que le système de construction de deck permet de personnaliser ses capacités via des cartes pour adopter différents styles de jeu. Entièrement gratuit, le titre débloque tout avantage en jeu par le simple fait de jouer, les achats se limitant à des éléments cosmétiques parmi des centaines de skins. La presse a salué le fait que le jeu comble un vide dans la bibliothèque de la Switch et constitue un shooter multijoueur convaincant, tout en relevant au passage que le pack fondateur payant sur cette plateforme pouvait paraître surprenant pour un titre free-to-play. Certains joueurs regrettent un système de classement contraignant et des soucis de lancement sur Steam, tandis que d'autres apprécient le dynamisme et la direction artistique du jeu, malgré la présence de tricheurs. L'œuvre affiche un score Metacritic de 83 et une note agrégée de 79,01.

« While locking the game behind a £25 Founders Pack might be a little cheeky for a game that’s actually free-to-play, the game itself is an easy sell. As exciting, tense and rewarding as Overwatch, Paladins: Champions of the Realm brings the cross-platform hero shooter to a new platform without sacrificing the moreish gameplay tenants that’s made it such a hit with both gamers and pros. There’s a definitive learning curve for those looking to play competitively, but it’s nonetheless one of the console’s best new multiplayer additions. »

« A 5v5 team-based shooter like Paladins looked very promising on paper. It had a good variety of maps, a large roster of unique champions with different abilities, and even a shop system where you could buy extra perks to improve your stats. The gameplay felt fast and dynamic - fights were happening all the time, yet it never felt overwhelming or chaotic. The balance and anti-cheat existed, though not always in their best shape. Still, for a while, the game managed to stay alive, build its own community, and even have an esports scene. But as time went on, it stopped evolving. Players began complaining that the only updates were new skins, while major improvements were nowhere to be seen. The game had squeezed out everything it could from its audience - and decline followed. It's not a bad game by any means, but today it's simply not worth your attention anymore. »

« Хорошая замена платному овервотчу, играл с 2018 по 2022, в игре очень много тёлок, считай в неё они почти и играют, также персы тут с большими жопами, но вот у вкусно и обратная сторона медали есть, разрабы в прямом смысле инвалиды и геи, но как им в голову пришло совместить в разделе аватаров ислам и ЛГБТ, я не понимаю, и то, почему эта игра до сих пор не сдохла, я тоже не понимаю. »
