17 juillet 2019

BaziCenter 90/100

« Night Call's focus on story-telling and engaging atmosphere pays off as the developers mix in wonderful music and top quality animations to create one of the most unique experiences in recent memory. »

Ragequit.gr 84/100

« Night Call provides some compelling everyday stories wrapped under a neo-noir narrative game. At the end of the day (no pun intended), it succeeds in showcasing the everyday life heroes (however big or small) of a large city and their concerns. »

GameSpot 80/100

« Night Call’s real strength is in the stories it tells about Paris, about the people who live there and the meaningful connections you can have with them no matter how brief or unexpected. It's these people you'll remember once you've solved each case, not the fares you charged them. »

GameWatcher 80/100

« Night Call is interesting in ways most games aren’t. It’s a game that humanizes people that usually get mockery. It’s so good at this that it overshadows the serial killer stuff. It can lose its steam thanks to some repetitive gameplay, but its shorter length prevents it from dragging on. Its design choices will turn away action-oriented players, but it’s a pleasant surprise if you want more compassion in your crime fiction. »

DarkStation 80/100

« There really should be more games like Night Call out there. It tries something unique and succeeds at it, delivering compelling short stories through a limited yet meaningful interaction and wrapped up in a classy aesthetic. The game shows humanism and wisdom that the billion-dollar titles can only dream of. »

Hooked Gamers 80/100

« Night Call is not something to pick up if you’re looking for something actively “game-y,” but it’s one that I’d recommend to anyone willing to spend a few dark nights simply enjoying the ride. »

The Games Machine 79/100

« Night Call is thriller on the importance of verbal confrontation, adapting to one's interlocutor, creating fluid dialogues without necessarily complying with all their thoughts. A visual novel that is so classic, even predictable in its police nuance, but brilliant in the micro-situations we will experience in every journey. »

Cultured Vultures 75/100

« Technical and pacing issues aside, the writing of Night Call is what makes it such a fascinating and, at times, enthralling game. Sit back with a cup of coffee and become an unofficial therapist for a few hours with this dark descent into Paris. »

Tromatojuice 7/10

« Loved the story. It's basically a visual novel. Still, I wish the game offered some voice acting to make it even more immersive. »

Jbonager 10/10

« I cant explain how much impressive game was with **** ambiance pulled me into it,the short stories was very powerful, its a visual-novel like game, just chill and read, little decisions and etc. .I loved the stories from ordinary people like you and i,the game really gives the dark atmosphere of ordinary peoples. »

AidanMe 10/10

« Hey, I thought it was pretty good. not a masterpiece but I feel as though it wasn't made to be one. for what it is I think its great and made me smile. »

MarkusCreed 7/10

« Night Call è un gioco che presenta un impianto ludico un po’ povero, ma dal potenziale narrativo e dall’atmosfera ottimi. Monkey Moon e Black Muffin hanno confezionato delle indagini abbastanza interessanti e dai diversi livelli di difficoltà, in modo da adattarsi a un bacino maggiore. Insomma, si tratta di un videogioco adatto soprattutto a chi ama esperienze più narrative, e che può chiudere un occhio sulla povertà di meccaniche. »

bancandrei 6/10

« Some of the short stories (passangers) can be interesting, but the core story and gameplay loop leave much to be desired, mainly they are mostly missing. »

radkolago 9/10

« It's more a visual novel than a game in classic sense of the word, but I enjoyed it very much. Core gameplay focuses on collecting clues and managing your resources - fuel, money and time. But the most important and engaging part of the game are your passengers - each one of them has their own unique story, motivations and goals. The dialogues are written with empathy, warmth and sense of humour. You can see they're inspired by real-life stories - during your nights you meet people from different ways of life. There were times when I was literally smiling at the screen when my passenger left my cab after a wholesome discussion. The investigation part could be more complex, but again - the value of this game is about connecting with each other without prejudice and trying to understand each other. »

zayeedah 1/10

« Great idea, poor execution. There isn't really any strategy, just talk to people and hope they give you a random clue, which you add to a very simplistic crime board. Some are categorized for you and the rest are either completely obvious or total guesses. You dont really get to strictly investigate or logic. There is no way even to make an educated decision about who to pick up or talk to. Setting and ambience are good. Here's what made me give it up, though. The very obvious SJW agenda. I am so tired of this new cult, the preachings of which are far more aggressive, annoying, and ubiquitous than any other religion has been in my lifetime. I am glad I got to try before buying, which I will not do. »

alzahhar 5/10

« I thought the game would be about making you feel like a detective, piecing things together, talking to potential suspects, trying to get them to slip up and talk, instead it was mostly talking to many characters about things seemingly unrelated to my investigation. Every now and then you will get “real” evidence or leads. But most of the time it felt like conversations were a waste of time. I wish it had more thought out conversations and a better plot to keep you at the edge of your seat. Instead it keeps you asking when will I get something useful out of this? »
