TheGamer 100/100

« As somebody who grapples with my mortality every day, Necrobarista helped me want to live each day to the fullest - lest my time be stolen away in the blink of an eye. And for a game to have that impact on a person, for a work of art to rattle the soul that thoroughly, is perhaps one of the highest forms of art that I can think of. »

GameGrin 100/100

« Necrobarista is easily one of the best games so far this year and one of the greatest visual novels I’ve ever played. »

Player 2 91/100

« Necrobarista, is a stellar debut from Melbourne’s Route 59 Games, one that succeeds in pushing the artistic boundaries of the medium and has me eagerly anticipating what’s next for the studio. Brew your favourite cuppa and have a go, mate. »

VideoGamer 90/100

« The story of Necrobarista isn't lost in its bold anime-inspired style and maximalist presentation. These elements mix and swirl together like a cup of damned good coffee. »

GameSpew 90/100

« Necrobarista is what a good cup of coffee should be: warm, a little nutty and exactly what you crave. It leaves a lasting impression. Its characters are lovable and relatable; its story covers a deeply complicated topic with humour and charm; and the world is so well-crafted and intriguing that it could easily tell a thousand more stories. Add to that an excellent soundtrack and gorgeous art style, and it’s unlikely you’ll find another visual novel that compares to Necrobarista. »

GamingTrend 90/100

« I would be remiss if I did not take the time to properly talk about how glorious the soundtrack is. Every song is amazing; from the melancholy Confluence, the main theme, to my personal favorite track, the upbeat, slightly suspenseful Nostalgia Trip, which I have found myself humming daily since I first got my hands on this game. I don’t often get excited about video game music, but I’ve found myself listening to these tracks on loop while working on other projects; the music, much like the Terminal’s coffee, is to die for. »

Gamer Escape 90/100

« Necrobarista is just a plain wonderful experience. The story is entertaining with powerful moments, the characters feel fleshed out and realistic (or as realistic as the plot allows for), and the presentation is stunning (although the character design may not be attractive to some). »

TheSixthAxis 90/100

« Necrobarista is a game-changer for the visual novel genre, using slick cinematic visuals to tell its story. This is a sophisticated story full of delightful, three-dimensional characters that is perfectly complements by the groundbreaking presentation of the experience. »

« El Clásico. The game probably has a very deep and interesting story, lore, etc. But the authors lack narrative skill. I don't even know whether it's good or bad game. I simply don't want continue to play it. Good luck getting anyone hooked on this game. Given score is graphics, setting, soundtrack etc. Probably game for certain communities »

ImprudentDev 8/10

« Story 8/10: I love the characters in this game, each one is written so well, so well in fact that even with the 4 hours it had it managed to make me care deeply for all of them, the story itself is really good too, even though it bound itself to a single cafe. Also, they made Ned Kelly an enforcer for the Council of Death and I find that hilarious. In terms of the content of the story, it questions the ethics of necromancy really well through the main events of the story, even questioning and incorporating different questions surrounding death, 'what is on the other side after death?', 'How would you react if you knew that your time was finite', it really delves deeply into these questions with the newcomer Keshan. Gameplay 5/10: It's an average visual novel, my only true gripe with it is that there's no History or Log, meaning I couldn't go back to text I accidentally skipped over. Visuals 8/10: I really liked the visuals and artstyle in this, especially the fact that its all in a 3D environment, it's kinda like how Steins;Gate Elite does it, but it reads better because; A. the text is intergrated into the scenery and B. things still move when its waiting for you to continue, just leaving it more coherent in execution. Music 8/10: The music really sold the vibe this game was going for, the calm pieces held this melancholic feel that really connected it to the story. Overall 8/10: NecroBarista is fleeting, it's really short but feels like it used its time perfectly, I loved how it incorporated Melbournian culture into its story, Melbourne is a place known for its coffee culture, its inclusions of Melbourne culture from Avocado toast, to Pool, really hit for me, it sold the setting, as a Melbournian myself. »

KiotoWave 5/10

« very average visual novel, nothing special. The story is not very hooked, a lot of problems with animation, the game can not be saved. A game for a big fan of the visual novel genre »

AbaddonMason 8/10

Allyptic 6/10

« [SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers.] »

bancandrei 5/10

« Starts off promising and stylish but doesn't really deliver anything. Still it's nice to see they are trying to push the medium of visual novels further. But still, I think a zelda from 30 years ago has tighter controls for reading text than this. »

FlavioJC 0/10

« Squanders its themes, doesn't do anything interesting or novel with the story, the memory system is bad, and it is simply not worth picking up, even on sale. »

vitin 6/10
