Description (IGDB)

Mega Man X 8 adds more depth and variety to this classic gaming series. With Earth in ruins after Sigma's invasion, humanity builds a new kind of reploid to colonize the moon. Sigma has corrupted their DNA and made them turn on humans. You and your teammates head to the moon for outer-space adventure of epic proportions!

Histoire (IGDB)

In late 21XX, the Maverick Wars continue with no end in sight. To escape the carnage, humans have begun migrating to the Moon as part of an initiative known as the "Jakob Project", which involves an orbital elevator built in the Galapagos Islands. One night while X is out on patrol, one of the elevators breaks off and comes crashing down to Earth. As X approaches the elevator, the doors open, revealing an entire army of Sigmas. Suddenly, a purple-haired Reploid arrives and introduces himself as Lumine, the director of the Jakob Project. He reveals the "Sigma army" isn't what it appears to be; instead, they are new generation Reploids created as part of the project who are immune from viruses and able to use DNA copy data to change their shapes and appearances to assist with space development.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

BonusStage 90/100

« This game is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, even when you are dying over and over. Like "Prince of Persia," it's that one time you actually make it all happen that has you forgetting how many times you hit retry. »

Gaming Target 90/100

« After the mess of new ideas that was Mega Man X7, it's amazing that X8 can go back to the basics and seem completely fresh by not doing anything new. »

Game Informer 83/100

« Old-school fans will rejoice, and maybe a new generation will now understand why Mega Man is awesome. [Jan 2005, p.124] »

Thunderbolt 80/100

« One mighty fine addition to the series, as well as a quality platforming/action title in its own right. »

eToychest 75/100

« The stages are challenging, the bosses are interesting, though a bit predictable, and the game is just about classic platforming fun. »

Play Magazine 75/100

« The best original Mega Man game since the days of Sega Saturn. [Jan 2005, p.56] »

My Gamer 74/100

« With the introduction of polygons in Mega Man X2 in 1995, I never thought their use would result in a good X game. But this is the game I imagined the future would bring. »

IGN 73/100

« If you loved "Mega Man X7" and thought it was one of the best action games of last year then Mega Man X8 will probably grant you eternal life. »

« A física pode ser estranha comparada aos outros títulos (com exceção do X7 que é em 3D) mas, uma vez que você se acostuma com ela o jogo flui como qualquer outro mega man. Para ser um nota 10 só faltou as mecânicas de algumas fases serem melhor polidas ou trocadas para outras mais interessantes isso com certeza elevaria a nota do jogo. »

Sonic88778 7/10

« Mega Man X8 Improves and gets 2.5 right without using 3D which was a mistake for the franchise because Mega Man never could transition good enough into 3D due to rushed development at the time however Mega Man X8, fixes all the flaws that X7, majorly had aka the WORST gameplay ever despite that X8, is actually a solid game the flaws it has in the levels can be noticeable. For some weird reason in certain moments and also for some reason your health bar goes down so much when hit by a single hit from an enemy or boss X8, also had very great upgrades as you can have so many armors to choose from which doesn't make the game lock to only one armor but plenty. anyway, this was my full review on Mega Man X8 a better game than X6 and X7 could ever be anyway thanks for reading this review. »

« un juego mal valorado, sinceramente las cosas que tiene el juego ya no se siente la misma alegría, el niveleado esta bien la historia mejor, pero es un juego donde ya no se siente lo mismo que sentiamos con X1, X3 y X4, el tiempo mato a la saga y sepulto a esta franquicia hace ya 21 años... »

« I played this 3 times over to get one single item only to find out it doesn't appear after you've beaten all the mavericks. I haven't played any of the X games since. »

« Okay Capcom, Now You Truly Crossed The Line, How The Biggest Company That Created The Biggest Franchises Of The World, Allow THIS!!! Capcom, You Can't Get Away With This, You Can't Get Away With This New Level Of Blasphemy, Capcom, I'LL UNALIVE YOU, CAPCOM!!!!! »

Soycrates 5/10

« A definite step in the right direction following the failures of X6 and X7 but still an unfortunate end to the X series. Core gameplay/controls take a big leap from X7, with 3D sections removed entirely and the main trio moving quicker and feeling much more responsive in 2D. Unfortunately the 3D graphics return which are still a big step up from X7 but still fail to compare to the amazing sprite quality of the previous games, which not only look better but also make the games feel much faster, even if its just psychological. Special weapons are a mixed bag but overall reliable and the bosses can be really fun. The main issue is definitely the design of some stages though. While some are alright, others are dominated by gimmicks that neuter or just ruin the stage. Upgrades are also the most tedious to obtain that they've ever been, with most requiring some form of special weapon or specific character to obtain, necessitating a ton of backtracking, though the addition of a currency and shop similar to the Classic series mitigates this issue somewhat. Soundtrack isn't bad but personally is one of the most forgettable out of the X lineup. While this game isn't great, its a shame the X series had to die following a game that seemed to be halfway towards finding its footing. »
