Description (IGDB)

Once again, Kirby must save the kingdom from evil. But this time he'll need some backup. As Kirby, you can call up one of four alter egos for help during your quest. Each character features new copy abilities that range from arrow-shooting to melee moves. Practice your skills in new side games, such as Crackity Hack and Speed Eaters. In addition to new abilities and subgames, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror also introduces new multiplayer modes.

Histoire (IGDB)

There is a Mirror World that exists in the skies of Dream Land where any wish reflected in the mirror will come true. However, one day it copies the mind of a mysterious figure and creates a reflected world of evil. Meta Knight notices this and flies up to save the Mirror World. Meanwhile, Kirby is taking a walk when Dark Meta Knight appears. Before Kirby can react, Dark Meta Knight slices Kirby in four and Kirby becomes four different colored Kirbys. They chase after Dark Meta Knight on a Warp Star simultaneously and enter the Mirror World. It is revealed that the two Meta Knights fought each other until the real Meta Knight was defeated. He was then knocked into the mirror, which was in turn cut into eight fragments by Dark Meta Knight and scattered across the Mirror World, prompting the Kirbys to save Meta Knight and the Mirror World. After collecting all eight mirror fragments, Kirby enters the Mirror World and battles Dark Meta Knight. After defeating him, a vortex appears and sucks Kirby in, who is given Meta Knight's sword. Kirby then proceeds to fight Dark Mind, the true mastermind behind the Mirror World's corruption, multiple times. Upon defeat, the Mirror World is saved, and Shadow Kirby (the Mirror World counterpart of Kirby who is believed to be an enemy, but is now an ally) waves his goodbyes to the four Kirbys as they all exit the Mirror World one by one. Meta Knight also drops his Master sword before leaving the Mirror World, marking it as a symbol for the Mirror World's protection.

Avis des critiques et joueurs

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Gamezilla! 91/100

« Kirby & The Amazing Mirror may star a cute little ball of fluff and his doppelgangers, but it's still a fantastic game following in the footsteps of such classics as the Mario and Zelda adventures. »

Weekly Famitsu 90/100

« 9 / 10 / 9 / 8 - 36 platinum [Vol 798; 2 Apr 2004] »

NintendoWorldReport 90/100

« With its all charm, highly polished design, and uncharacteristic longevity, Kirby's newest adventure should appeal to anyone who isn't afraid of the cuteness. »

Nintendojo 86/100

« The gameplay is fun and addictive, making it well worth your time even if the cute visuals aren't your thing. It could have been a bit longer, but all-in-all, it's a great addition to anyone's library. »

eToychest 85/100

« The gameplay is solid, and even players who might otherwise be turned off by the game's cute style and cartoonish presentation could find themselves falling in love with the pink marauder and his band multicolored friends. »

Nintendo Insider 85/100

« It is easily one of the best platformers on GBA. »

Computer and Video Games 83/100

« It's a shame that the bosses require little more thought than simply chucking back what they throw at you, and it hardly qualifies as a platformer at times when you can just fly everywhere. »

Nintendophiles 83/100

« Granted, Hal Laboratories and Flagship tried to shake things up with a multiplayer concept that ended up making it less accessible for lonely GBA owners, but it's still a great Kirby game. »

« I describe this game as "Kirby's Metroidvania adventure." Being able to only bring some powers from exclusive areas to open puzzles across world was challenging and exciting. Every time I replayed this game, I always found a novel path to explore! Although, I did not get to play multiplayer until the Switch port of the game. Thanks to it, I could finally experience multiplayer with my wife and a friend! The game was almost as amazing as I imagined it as child! Although, Nintendo not having the best online gaming made our experience really lag at times. The only downside of playing with friends is that you beat the game much faster and you don't get to explore the world as much because your friends can cover more ground! Hey, if the only downside is that you want more game, it is a really good game! I wish another game can replicate this multiplayer exploration aspect in the future!!! »

« The first Kirby game to be more of a Metroidvania since you’re exploring big worlds and there are a ton of collectibles to find and I think it’s executed very well. The only things is that the game can be extremely confusing even with the maps that they provide for you. I also don’t like that you lose your ability after one hit. But otherwise, very solid Kirby game. »

RealNova 7/10

« this game was ahead of it's time for a nintendo game, it is surprising how well Kirby's mechanics mix with a metroidvania map; that being said the game has 2 big problems: 100% is basically impossible, the game doesn't not list already opened chests and you need to find them all; also the game has lots of doors in which you cannot return back, making the game much more labyrinthic and confusing. »

Totodile_z 9/10

« A fun, dungeon-crawling, Metroidvania style Kirby game that's slightly hampered by the constant, somewhat unintuitive backtracking. The visuals and color palette are an absolute delight though and the classic Kirby staple of copy abilities makes for creative, ever-shifting gameplay that keeps things fresh. This game also has one of the best Kirby soundtracks period. »

« Kirby & the Amazing Mirror was certainly an... interesting game for me. While absolutely adorable, it's not quite as fun with only one player (which I did because I have no friends). So you may be asking, "then why did you rate this so high?" Because of the gameplay, duh. This game has absolutely amazing gameplay, not quitelike the others in the series and a bit like Metroid. The story and bosses are wonderful as well. I wouldn't suggest this for a first Kirby game, but I'd still absolutely recommend for a second or third »

« Kirby and the Amazing Mirror was not a fun game for me, but more so annoyed me with its confusing metroid-esque gameplay. But this alone doesn't make it a bad game for other players, just a bad experience for me. Still I wish the Amazing Mirror would stick more to the Kirby basics, but for what it does, it does well enough to not damper the Kirby name that most have come to know and appreciate. »

KirbKid 10/10

« Amazing game! It takes the cute world of Kirby and flips it on it's head by turning it into a kind of dungeon crawler! Cool gimmicks, fun gameplay, overall just a S-tier game. »
