Journey to the Savage Planet
Journey to the Savage Planet

« Journey to the Savage Planet might just be the first great game of 2020. It’s beautiful, compelling, fun, and funny. It’s difficult to think about the game without comparing it to other recent titles. Visually, it’s similar to No Man’s Sky; tonally, it’s akin to The Outer Worlds; and the level-design takes a page from Metroid Prime. Even with all of these seemingly obvious inspirations, the way Savage Planet combines its various elements makes it feel completely unique. Despite the fact that, in the end, Savage Planet doesn’t fully stick the landing, it embodies the words of Shepherd Book: it doesn’t matter where you're going because how you get there is the worthier part. And this is a most excellent way to get there. »
« Journey to the Savage Planet is such a ridiculously zany and wonderful game. No matter how many times I die, whether it be to a monster I just didn’t see or missing a grapple after grinding my way up the Spire, I look forward to returning to my corpse and giving it another go (and a proper burial). Whether you play the game solo or with an online coop partner, I hope you enjoy your time on AR-Y 26 as much as I have. »
« There’s a lot to love about Journey to the Savage Planet but most importantly, it reminded me why I started playing games in the first place: for fun. Journey to the Savage Planet offers a ton of enjoyment in both its gameplay and storytelling. Bravo to Typhoon Studios for kicking off 2020 with what might just be the sleeper hit of the year and mic dropping a brand new IP that shouldn’t be missed. »
« One of the most interesting and unique indie games to be released in a very long time. The game manages to blend together several different kinds of gameplay mechanics in a way that mostly makes sense. Even when the game gets slightly frustrating, it is still impossible not to marvel at the beautiful and hilarious world that Typhoon Games has created. »
« There's a profound sense of exploration and discovery in Journey to the Savage Planet. It's constantly motivating the player to double back and take another look at an area without ever explicitly telling them to. It's like being let into an amusement park with no lines and no rules, giving players the freedom to make their own fun whenever they need a break from an incredibly vertical, and hardly ever uninteresting, scavenger hunt for new resources and upgrades. It may not be an entire planet to explore, but it could easily fill one up. »
« Journey to the Savage Planet is an excellent and often funny firstperson exploration game. You could call it a Metroidvania game but that’s just lazy. Go out and buy this. »
« Journey to the Savage Planet was such a fun way to kick off the decade. »
« A really colorful, tongue-in-cheek adventure that offers many secrets to discover. Sadly, the balance in the challenges needs some tweaking. »

« Would be a great game but lazy devs didn't bother to add gyro and the controls are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Bosses that just dont work sometimes. The controls oh my god the fking controls are so bad. Insane pop-up loading even in small areas. Great humor lost in crap design and a lazy port. Not even worth the $5 on sale. »
« Solid fun game but not outstanding. Journey to the savage planet is an enjoyable exploration game with a capitalist overlh satirical tone that many games are adopting. You explore an interesting and visually good planet in search of fuel and a material for humanity. Gameplay is fun, at first you will notice the stamina is way too low but it doesnt take much time in increasing. Exploring the world is rewarding enough and you will have quite the tools to do so, double and triple jumps, boosters, grappling hooks, etc which makes moving around fun for your playtrough. The game has combat but its just there, one weapons and not many ways to approach it, bosses arent really fun but i wouldnt say they were annoying or a drag neither, some enemy types were very annoying and some others were tricky and fun, but this aspect is really secondary. The other important aspect of this game is the world. Beatiful, well designed, fun to explore and interesting. Biomes constantly change to not feel like you are on the same place ever. Straying from your main path and experimenting is always fun and encouraged. The world is good and memorable, but there are other games of its kind which just have a better world. Ost was pretty lacking, outside of the menu theme, nothing interesting, sound design was just ok. Its a fun game for sure, it has coop too if you want to chat and play with your friend. But the main issue is that, its nothing especial really. The combat is lacking, the world is good and fun but it never felt too especial, nor better than other games of its kind like subnautica. The humor was fine, it made me laugh but this kind of tone is being found each time more, making it nothing special. The lore behind it, keeps you interested in the game but its nothing you really are going to remember or atribute to its greatness. This game is just a fun short experience, that it may not be really special but it sure will be entertaining and scanning and exploring the world will be fun and satisfying as well as relaxing. Just dont expect something incredible. Worth at 10$ »
« I really enjoyed this game and I'm looking forward to the sequel coming out soon. If you like games like High on Life, I highly recommend this **** map is bigger than I thought, and it was fun to find hidden elements all over the place, and the battle with the boss was also fun. There were a couple of times where I wasted several hours because there were no hints in the middle, and then I understood it by watching YouTube walkthroughs. I don't really have any complaints, but when playing with a controller, having to press the D-pad left and right as many as four or five times to select the weapon to throw was very annoying during tense boss battles. It would have been less frustrating during boss battles if I had been able to quickly select a weapon by holding down the L1 button and using thumb stick to select the weapon. »
« I only played this game for one and a half hours and although I know it's a short game and that I could easily beat it, I found it boring and repetitive. Also, the fact that you don't have a big map it makes it more difficult to find some places. I would rate this game with a 6-6'5. »
« I really enjoyed the game. I liked the charm. The co-op too, but the game is enough to play through once. Collecting all the stuff didn't appeal to me personally. Still, I can highly recommend the game in co-op. »

« Es tan precioso y dulce... Es adorable, es ingenioso, divertido... Es tan original... »
« Got it in ps+. A funny game at the beginning but it loses charm very fast. Unbalanced gameplay, there's too much or too little. Either it lacks a map, a freecam system and a way to teleport to base. Or a less punishing death and unlimited consumables, or simply a save. In this state it's a chore to experiment with jumps or items, since it involves heavy backtracking in case of failure »
