Description (IGDB)

Indigo Prophecy is an action-adventure game that involves the player in making decisions to alter the narrative. The name change in North America was made to avoid confusion with Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 documentary film, which was released in 2004. Indigo Prophecy introduced elements like ethical ambiguity, romance, the inability to perish, and interactive storytelling that would endure in Quantic Dream later games.

Histoire (IGDB)

Without knowing why, Lucas Kane kills a man in a diner's restroom in New York City. Frightened, he contacts a spiritual medium, who helps him find out what happened the night of the murder. But what they find out doesn't only raise further questions, but puts everybody's life in danger.

The Internet Did It The Indigo Prophecy Remastered

Of all the games to remaster, why this? Of all the games to remaster, this, yes, this, of course. What a thing it is, the action-adventure-murder-mystery-conspiracy-everything game we called Fahrenheit back when it was first released in Britain a decade ago, though you over-ponders insisted on calling it The Indigo Prophecy. And what a talking point David Cage/Quantic Dream’s 2005 oddity was, back when I was part of Bath’s game journalist illuminati.* Its incredible escape-from-a-murder-scene first section, its… troubling depiction of its main black character, its ridiculous sex scenes, its wildly over-zealous quicktime event conceits, its spiralling descent into utter lunacy. How we loved it. How we loved to talk about it, anyway. Little did we know what it would lead to. Little did we know what David Cage games would become. And now it’s back. Remastered. Out now. Why? Why not? …

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered Offers HD Cage

When David Cage’s polygonal form walked in front of the camera at the start of the original Fahrenheit demo, it seemed like an unusual, funny thing for a game designer to do. However, it’s a little known fact that David Cage has actually been trapped there, inside his strange adventure game these past ten years. That’s made it difficult to direct actors in his more recent works – explaining a lot – but it’s also given him the time to polish up the game which has become his prison. Now according to a listing on Amazon.com, Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered is on its way. …

Indigo Prophecy arrives on GOG

Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit), Quantic Dream's precursor to Heavy Rain, is now available DRM-free on Good Old Games at $5.99. As Heavy Rain is unlikely to ever to come to PC, Quantic's earlier stab at a multi-protagonist branching crime thriller is about as close as we'll get for now.As in Heavy Rain, Indigo Prophecy switches between four characters as you uncover mysterious shenanigans. You'll get to play as a murderer, his priest of a brother, an NYPD detective, and a police sergeant, all kicking off with a nasty murder. Then... things get a bit weird. And that's just the quick-time events! (A classic 'pull back and reveal' punchline for you, there.)GOG notes that its version includes a completed savegame, as that unlocks bonus goodies including the soundtrack and cinematics.Head on over to GOG to buy Indigo Prophecy. And yes, it is the uncensored version, with all the sex and naughty bits intact.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Times Online 100/100

« A completely engrossing game, designed for the patience of adult players, that will stand up to an almost infinite number of sessions. It's a technically marvellous achievement by David Cage. »

Gaming Age 100/100

« Indigo Prophecy is unique, artistic, immersive and beautiful. There's no reason in the world why any self-respecting gamer shouldn't have this game in their collection. »

Talk Xbox 95/100

« The characters are memorable and the storyline is great, even if it gets a bit "out there" towards the end. It's games like this that deserve to be called art, instead of just "games". If you buy one more Xbox game this year or ever, make it Indigo Prophecy. »

IC-Games 93/100

« Fahrenheit features a fascinating, ever evolving storyline that really does change in real time depending on your actions. »

Worth Playing 92/100

« The most enjoyable gaming experience I've had this year. The story was one of the best ever, and the acting is top-notch. »

Gamer 2.0 92/100

« Indigo Prophecy may not have the technical backings of a winner with its dated graphics and strange control scheme, but everything else screams classic. »

Gamers' Temple 91/100

« Indigo Prophecy may very well be the best adventure game for the Xbox...not much more needs to be said than that. »

netjak 91/100

« A wonderful title and well worth a purchase. While the visuals leave much to be desired, the rest of the game is well packaged. This is adventure gaming at its finest and includes a wonderful control scheme innovation that should be used for future games. »

« _Good game_ »

Rydoglol 7/10

« The game stood the test of time! The graphics, voice acting, and plot still hold up. I would rate it a bit higher but have to knock it down a bit due to a lot of QTE. »

HellHoleHorror 6/10

« I actually think that the graphics hold up today, just with a vintage vibe. The story and characters are really engaging. Some of the ‘busy-work’ really doesn’t add anything (e.g. playing the guitar), I’d prefer it to be shorter and more engaging but this is a minor gripe. Sometimes the QuickTime events become really tedious and don’t seem to end and stop you enjoying what is happening, especially Lucas Kane’s big escape. Some of the music is really obnoxious, it's too loud and inappropriate like the seventies jazz music, this affects the Tyler Miles sections which are easily the weakest overall and it feels like he doesn’t have much purpose in the story. Some of the controls are a little awkward but not enough to stop you playing the game to the end. All the negatives are more than made up for by the excellent story and really nice cinematography. Love the ending, really makes the journey worthwhile. »

DerekDudage 10/10

« Playing Indigo Prophecy (or Fahrenheit for the international version) on PS2 years ago was an unforgettable experience, and it’s incredible how well it holds up today. This game wasn’t just ahead of its time in 2005; it set the standard for interactive storytelling. The gripping narrative centers around Lucas Kane, who finds himself mysteriously driven to commit a murder he doesn’t remember. From that moment on, you’re thrown into a world filled with suspense, supernatural elements, and moral ambiguity. The cast of characters is remarkable and diverse, each with distinct motivations and personalities. Lucas is a complex protagonist whose struggle to make sense of his terrifying visions feels both chilling and compelling. Carla Valenti, the dedicated NYPD detective investigating the murder, offers a grounded perspective, while Tyler Miles, her laid-back partner, brings balance and humor. Their storylines weave together seamlessly, providing multiple perspectives on the plot as it unravels. What made Indigo Prophecy so memorable back in the day was its innovative choice-based gameplay. Decisions matter, and you’re constantly under pressure to make tough calls, knowing that each one has the potential to impact the story. This mechanic was groundbreaking and added immense replayability. The game was also one of the first to successfully integrate action sequences through Quick-Time Events (QTEs), which heightened the tension during critical moments. It’s not just a game; it’s an interactive cinematic experience that pulls you in like few games ever have. The only real downside is that the controls can feel a bit dated by today’s standards. QTEs can be clunky and may take some adjusting, especially if you’re used to modern controls. But for a game that brought such a unique blend of narrative and interactivity, that’s a minor flaw. Overall, Indigo Prophecy is a masterpiece of interactive storytelling, blending horror, mystery, and action in a way that few games have managed to replicate. It’s a true classic that deserves every bit of its praise! »

wmurphy011 6/10

« Great but falls short of the PS2 version for technical reasons. The Xbox version having frame rate issues and glitches which are not present in the PS2 version. That being said, it still plays decently well. »

Gamer80 10/10

GRACIAS! »

FrozenStar90 9/10

« Ludicrous story aside, Indigo Prophecy is a stunning adventure game. Filled with great characters and memorable scenes, French developer Quantic Dream put itself on my list of developers to watch with this one. »
