Xbox Nation Magazine a salué une réalisation puissante en notant que « Microsoft and Bungie have created a gigantic bell that sounds like thunder and reverberates with a fury worthy of a gale-force hurricane. It's not perfect, but… », tandis que GMR Magazine a relevé que « The digital surround sound is phenomenal (and the voice-acting peerless), and players with a good A/V system will enjoy hearing enemies approach from all sides… ». Certains joueurs sur Metacritic regrettent des graphismes en retrait par rapport au premier opus, tout en recommandant le jeu. L'agrégat de notes s'établit à 77,13 et le score Metacritic à 72.

Xbox Nation Magazine 100/100

« Microsoft and Bungie have created a gigantic bell that sounds like thunder and reverberates with a fury worthy of a gale-force hurricane. It's not perfect, but get in front of it, and wonderful things - wonderful destructive things - are bound to happen. [Dec 2004, p.72] »

GMR Magazine 100/100

« The digital surround sound is phenomenal (and the voice-acting peerless), and players with a good A/V system will enjoy hearing enemies approach from all sides due to the sharp positional sound. »

Gamestyle 100/100

« One of Halo 2 Online's best features - if not the best - is the statistics tracking system. [Online review] »

Boomtown 100/100

« Halo 2 online is not total perfection, but it's miles better than anything out there right now, by a long long way... It's a genuine milestone in online console gaming. [Multiplayer Review] »

Thunderbolt 100/100

« Halo 2's Campaign mode is a luminous experience and testament of Bungie's rare talent for mixing gorgeous cinematics with captivating and fun gameplay segments, but it also serves as the concrete foundation for the game's multiplayer, making simple deathmatches, team skirmishes and CTF games that much more engaging. »

RewiredMind 100/100

« The new "Dual Wielding" option allows you to pick up two guns at once and use them together, which provides a feeling that again, other shooters just don't come anywhere near. »

AceGamez 100/100

« Quite simply an indescribably phenomenal gaming experience that redefines both the first person shooter genre and next generation gaming. »

DarkStation 100/100

« Coming from halo 1, a dissapointment. I only played the campaign so maybe the MP was better but eh. Graphically it looks kinda worse than Halo 1, mainly because of the artstyle. Enemies were more spongy, levels werent as good or iconic. Storywise while it has more dialogue and more cutscenes its kinda worse, Halo 1 while it wasnt very dialogue rich it had interesting moments, interesting twists, horror parts and an actual ending, as opossed to this where it has more but everything is so generic and predictable as well as the ending being so abrupt with a dissapointing final mission Most of the changes felt kinda meh. Akimbo was cool at the beggining but it wast really fun or good neither. It introduced new weapons such as the battle rifle, smg and covenant sniper but it still had meh sound design and it could feel useless against flood. The pistol was massacred going from a deagle to something more alike to a 9mm, MA5C got removed OST also got butchered, it easily bugs out, it doesnt loop and most of the new tracks are worse. Most of the changes felt trivial at best, the campaign was forgettable mostly with less sandbox elements and a generic story. It felt as more of the same kind of game but its just mid, and the innovative part of halo 1 for its time isnt present here. Its not a 5/10 or worse merely because its not too bad still, its just a (mostly) worse halo 1 which was already for todays standards, generic. Worth at like 5$ the campaign. »

« This game & its remaster are both masterpieces. If GTA SA didn't release in 2004 then this would be GOTY »

PrimeBrysnKD 9/10

« 9.5/10 Halo 2 does everything the first game does but even better. Halo 2 still has the player controlling Master Chief as you play through another amazing story with awesome and never boring fights. Another must play game from the halo series. »

DarkMythHunter 10/10

« Halo 2 – 9.6/10 - A bold and influential sequel that expands the scope of the series in every direction. Dual-wielding, refined shooting mechanics, and smarter enemy AI elevate the combat, while the introduction of the Arbiter adds depth to the story. Its multiplayer revolutionized online console gaming via Xbox Live. Though the campaign ends abruptly, its ambition, innovation, and lasting impact are undeniable. »
