Extremely fun, intense, and addictive! I bought 2 DLCs to support the developers and I hope more DLCs will be released in the future to expand the content. Thanks to the team for their hard work!

Hot Preview - Free Update & The Archives I
Hello Adventurers! As promised in our last update, we're back with a closer look at what we've been working on. We have both a free update and a new paid DLC in the works — here's where things stand.Note: Everything shown here is work in progress. Details may change before release.Free UpdateWe're putting together a substantial free update that focuses on giving you more ways to play and more reasons to come back. Here's what's shaping up:Kill or Timer — Your ChoiceThis one we're really excited about. When entering the Shrine of Torment, you'll now be able to choose your completion condition for each map: survive a set timer, or reach a kill threshold. Every stage (except the Vault and Training Grounds) will support both modes.Prefer a more aggressive, fast-paced approach? Switch to Kill Count and race to mow down the required number of enemies. Like the classic pressure of the ticking clock? Stick with Time Limit. Your choice, your pace — and your records are tracked separately for each mode.Statistics & RecordsWe're adding personal per-map records along with general run statistics. See your high scores, fastest times, and most kills at a glance — broken down by map and game mode. A great way to track your own improvement and settle the question of "was that my best run?"Challenge ShrineA new shrine will appear in your encampment offering curated challenges with a fixed seed. Each challenge presents a specific scenario: a set world, a selection of artifacts, increased monster waves, and limited shard upgrades. You pick your character and loadout, then work out a strategy to master the challenge. Your best result is tracked right at the shrine so you can always try to beat your own record. We'll share more details on exactly how the Challenge Shrine works as we get closer to release.Fragile & Affliction ReworkWe've given both the Fragile and Affliction systems a significant overhaul:Universal damage amplification — Both effects now increase all damage enemies receive, whether from direct hits or effects like burn, frost, and electrify. Previously they would only buff one or the other.Unlimited stacking — Both effects now stack without a cap. No more hitting a ceiling.Permanent application — Stacks are no longer removed over time. Once applied, they stick.Diminishing returns — To balance unlimited stacking, each additional stack is less effective than the last. The base effect is stronger, but piling on hundreds of stacks won't break the game — there are diminishing returns the higher you go.Affliction spread — Affliction can now spread to nearby enemies, making it a much more impactful effect in dense fights. These changes should make both effects feel more meaningful and rewarding to build around, while keeping things balanced at the extremes.Paid DLC — The ArchivesWe're working on the second paid DLC for Halls of Torment. Welcome to The Archives — a forgotten repository of forbidden knowledge, guarded by creatures that have been sealed away for good reason. The Archives introduces an entirely new stage along with two new characters, new items, abilities, and a fresh gameplay system. The InquisitorA righteous enforcer who wields the power of Judgement — a brand new stacking debuff system. Judgement stacks build up on enemies and can be detonated through execution strikes, dealing massive burst damage to the target. If the target survives the execution, the remaining Judgement stacks jump to nearby enemies — allowing chain reactions across tightly packed groups. The Inquisitor brings a deliberate, calculated playstyle focused on marking targets and delivering devastating finishing blows. The Blood ApostleA sacrifice-driven character who trades their own health for raw destructive power. The Blood Apostle's attacks cost HP, amplified by the Sacrifice system — but the payoff is immense. Items, traits, and abilities all interact with HP sacrifice, creating a high-risk, high-reward playstyle for those who like living on the edge. What will be in the DLCA new stage: The Archives2 new characters: The Inquisitor and The Blood ApostleJudgement — a new stacking debuff & execution system15+ new items3 entirely new abilities plus new upgrades for existing abilitiesNew quest boards for each character and the stageNew traits, blessings, and artifactsWe'll reveal more about The Archives in the coming months. When? We're targeting 2nd half 2026 for both the free update and The Archives DLC. There's still a lot of work to do, but we wanted to give you an honest look at where things stand. We'll keep you updated as we get closer. If you don't own Halls of Torment yet or have been eyeing the Boglands DLC — the Steam Spring Sale runs from March 19th through March 26th. A fine time to stock up before the new content arrives!Thank you for all your continued support, feedback, and bug reports. They genuinely make the game better.Stay hydrated!Chasing Carrots
HoT Update - 2026-03-10
Hello Adventurers! We have a fresh update going live today covering some quality-of-life improvements, a handful of bug fixes, and a couple of crash resolutions that have been on our radar. Read on for the full breakdown — and make sure to stick around for a peek at what's coming next!Shard Upgrades: Bulk ActionsManaging shards in the Vault just got a lot faster. You can now hold Shift to upgrade or refund in steps of 10, Alt for steps of 100, and Shift+Alt for steps of 1000. Gamepad players can use the left and right triggers to do the same.Bug Fixes & ImprovementsBard: Fixed an issue where the Mark of the Bard ability was incorrectly mapping to generic abilities at the start of a run instead of the Bard's own abilities (KillerRiff, KickBass, etc.).Music Player: Fixed a potential crash that could occur when switching music tracks during a level-up screen.Lord of Regret: Fixed the mining attack incorrectly using a hardcoded bomb count instead of the intended value. His wave and delta attacks will also now properly abort if he dies mid-attack.Player Input: Fixed an issue where holding left-click and right-click simultaneously could cause auto-attack to get stuck. Input is also now correctly disabled on death.Undergrowth Vine: Fixed vines not despawning at the correct time when certain Force modifiers were applied after the vine was created.Bog Slow Area: Fixed stale puddle references carrying over between runs, which could cause the slow effect to trigger incorrectly.Vault: Added a safeguard to prevent a crash that occurred when an item stored in the Well no longer exists in the current item pool.Agony Quest FixesChambers of Dissonance: The "Survive the Agony" quest will now only track progress and complete when Agony mode is actually active. It was previously possible to fulfil the quest conditions outside of Agony entirely.Alchemist & Crone Agony Quests: These quests now correctly require Agony mode to be active before tracking any progress.Crash FixesLightning Strike: Fixed crashes that could occur with the Electrifying Strike and Explosive Strike upgrades when the lightning spawner node wasn't properly found.Thunder Cape: Resolved a naming conflict between the Thunder Cape and the Lightning Strike ability that was causing crashes. Also fixed a crash related to invalid targets being included when picking the highest HP enemy.Quest Saving: Quests now save to your profile immediately upon completion, meaning progress will no longer be lost if the game is closed before the next regular save.DLC — Bogs & Books: Fixed an initialization issue that could cause DLC quest unlock checks to run before the game had fully loaded.Champion RewardsFixed champion reward drops not resetting between runs within the same session. After your first run, champions would stop dropping rewards entirely — that's now sorted.Coming Up Next — A Look Ahead We're hard at work on the next update and wanted to share a few things you can look forward to. Within the next week we'll have more concrete details, but here's an early preview:Free Update The next free content update will include:Kill or Timer — your choice: You'll be able to switch between reaching a kill threshold or surviving a set timer as your map completion condition, giving you more flexibility in how you play.Statistics & Records: We're adding per-map stats tracking along with personal records, so you can see exactly how your runs stack up over time.Challenge Shrine: A new shrine that generates fresh challenges — whether daily or weekly is still being tested and finalised, so stay tuned!Paid DLC — "The Archives" We're also working on a new paid DLC. It introduces a brand new map — The Archives — along with a new character to discover there. We're not giving too much away yet, but here's your first look:More details on both the free update and The Archives are coming soon. Thank you all for your continued support and your reports — they make a real difference. Stay alive out there. - Chasing Carrots
