Sorti le 18 novembre 2014 et développé par Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry 4 plonge le joueur dans le rôle d'Ajay Ghale, de retour au Kyrat, un pays himalayen déchiré entre tradition et violence, afin d'honorer les dernières volontés de sa mère, avant de se retrouver embarqué dans une guerre civile contre le dictateur Pagan Min. Le titre propose un monde ouvert allant des forêts luxuriantes aux sommets enneigés, peuplé d'une faune abondante et dangereuse, que l'on explore à l'aide d'un gyrocoptère, d'une wingsuit ou même monté sur un éléphant, avec un arsenal varié à disposition. Disponible sur de nombreuses plateformes, le jeu affiche un score Metacritic de 80 et un score OpenCritic de 84. La presse a salué la liberté offerte au joueur dans l'exploration, comme l'a relevé The Guardian, tandis que certains joueurs regrettent des bugs, des difficultés en coopératif ou la gestion du DRM Ubisoft Connect, d'autres louant en revanche la réalisation et le gameplay malgré l'âge du titre.

« Ubisoft connect is a cancer on PC Gaming. This game is awful. No quick save. I just drowned because the jump button stopped working. Aiming is pretty awful. Controller support is bad (buttons randomly stop working). I don’t care how cheap it is, don’t waste your money. »

« Far Cry 4 starts beautifully. The story seems interesting at first, and the main antagonist, Pagan Min, is visually striking, a truly scary psychopath. The first nine missions are fine, nothing extraordinary, but they set a good pace. After that, the game just… stops telling you where to go. I tried side quests hoping to unlock the main missions, but nothing helped. Eventually, I did every side quest and was still stuck. Then came the Himalaya missions, the worst missions in the game. Narrow, boring, poor AI, and guns that feel off. They made playing feel frustrating instead of fun.Graphics are nice, new mechanics are solid, but the story itself scores about a 5/10 for me. Gameplay feels uninspired compared to Far Cry 3. On PC, mouse sensitivity is awful and requires constant tweaking. While many assets and mechanics are fresh, the similarity to Far Cry 3 is clear.Defending statues, armories, and monks is tedious, side characters are forgettable, and the game actively fights you instead of letting you play. Some characters are mildly amusing, like the two stoner “gurus,” but overall, they don’t leave an **** short: Far Cry 4 has potential and looks beautiful, but poor mission design, frustrating progression, and uninspired gameplay make it hard to enjoy »
« Pagan Min is the most manipulative antagonist I met. Also pink suit and a "typical lesbian haircut" give him that thing that makes him different, the pink suit too. Game's a classic. Would recommend. »
