ESPN NBA 2K5, sixième opus de la série NBA 2K de jeux de basket-ball réaliste, est sorti le 28 septembre 2004 sur PlayStation 2 et Xbox. Développé par Visual Concepts et édité par Sega ainsi que Global Star Software, ce titre classé dans les genres simulation et sport met à jour les effectifs pour la saison NBA 2004-2005 et remanie le mode carrière, désormais intitulé « The Association ». La presse a salué son rapport qualité-prix et sa difficulté sur le terrain, GamePro notant qu'« on ne battra pas 2K5 sur le prix, et le jeu est dur comme fer sur le parquet », tandis que TeamXbox a indiqué que pour ceux cherchant des modes en ligne variés, de beaux graphismes et un jeu à cinq contre cinq techniquement fidèle, « ESPN 2K5 est la seule voie à suivre ».
