Description (IGDB)

Introducing an innovative hybrid combat system, Dead to Rights: Retribution puts the full combat potential of a highly trained, highly agitated law-enforcement officer into players' hands. Use your sidearm to pick off enemies from a distance, take cover and blind-fire with the game’s new ranged combat mechanics, or push the issue by taking human shields, stealing weapons with special disarm moves or dishing out Jack's own brutal brand of justice with deadly takedown moves. Jack is equally lethal in close-quarters combat, offering players branching melee combos, counterattacks and disarms as they take the fight to the criminal element of Grant City. Jack will encounter a variety of ruthless gangs in the filthy slums and menacing alleys of Grant City, each with their own unique abilities and fighting style that will test his resolve to crush their murderous stranglehold.

Histoire (IGDB)

Returning to Grant City, a boom town gone bust that is falling to the worst excesses of crime, greed and corruption; Dead to Rights: Retribution follows vice cop Jack Slate as he fights to expose shadowy figures that will stop at nothing to exert their deadly influence over the crumbling metropolis. Dead to Rights: Retribution will form an original story portraying key events that shape and define Jack Slate's character including how he and Shadow first come together as partners against those who would bring the once great city to its knees.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

AceGamez 84/100

« All in all, Dead to Rights: Retribution is a solid action title, elevated above many others by dint of a canine companion who finally manages to make having a dog in a videogame completely worth it. »

Pelit (Finland) 83/100

« A quite good FPS slash beat 'em up. The fighting is fun, but Grant City is a visually dull place. [May 2010] »

GamingXP 81/100

« For fans of the series Dead to Rights: Retribution is a must-have. For others it is a good way to get used to the action genre, because no prior skills are needed. »

Game Informer 80/100

« Dead to Rights: Retribution isn’t subtle or refined, but it excels at letting players move from one sleazy place to another and scouring it clean of life. »

Impulsegamer 80/100

« In conclusion, Dead to Rights: Retribution throws a few curve balls into the third person action franchise. It does take a little getting use to the controls but once you have mastered them, you’ll shooting and biting in no time and wanting to play more of Shadow. »

GameCritics 80/100

« Retribution gave me absolutely nothing that I was expecting it to, what I was offered in its stead was amazingly violent and fast-paced action. The game achieves almost everything it set out to do, and I have to applaud that. »

9Lives 79/100

« Dead To Rights Retribution can be considered one of the better action games of the year. It’s bloody and brutal, gameplay and controls feel good and the switches between Jack and Shadow help to fight off repetitiveness. If you don’t like blood and extreme violence, stay away from this game, but they are bountiful in the game. Recommended for those who like over-the-top action. »

SpazioGames 77/100

« It's like one of those trash movies: you feel somehow guilty but you still have fun playing it, thanks to the over-the-top action sequences and characters. Consider it if you like the brainless action genre and you can't wait for the bigger titles to come out the next month. »

« One of my favourite games on the ps3 such an amazing game! Seriously highly recommended its such a fun game with a pretty good story! »

TallionoillaT 10/10

« One of the best and most underrated games of the ps3 era. Its only flaw was the graphics, while everything else is top tier material. It has the smoothesttransition from hand to hand combat to gun fight I have ever played in my life and the disarm system was original and extremely satisfying. I hope somebody will create a spiritual successor for this game, collecting and expanding its innovative legacy. »

Agent008 7/10

« A "Dead to Rights" remake that is fun, but inferior to the original. While it has many of the classic elements, the action has more of a "Gears of War" vibe. One of the frustrating aspects is how the weapons don't carry much ammunition. On occasion, you'll run out of bullets during a firefight. As a result, you'll have to run towards enemies to disarm them. This makes no sense for a shooter. Also, while melee combat is fun, many combos are too complex to memorize. Overall, "Retribution" is a fun action game. But it's more comparable to a direct-to-video movie than a Hollywood blockbuster. I would rate it with a 7.3 out of 10. »

« the game combat is very easy a and straight forward but it repetitiveness makes the game so boring , I didn't like the weapon drop idea , because it makes guns as second choice for fighting and guns just turn into helpers to kill enemies faster , I like to keep my guns and collect ammo like other shooter games , combat and movement animations are so bad and they are like ps2 games , game's visual quality are good specialty the game lighting is perfect at least for a 7th gen game which released in 2010 , at the overall is not an enjoyable game for me but it is not a bad game either it could be better »

LonelyGamer20 10/10

« I cannot recall the specific means by which I initially became aware of this game, however, it is with conviction that I assert my lack of remorse concerning my decision to acquire it. My recollection of engaging in this game evokes memories of initial difficulty, manifesting in a formidable challenge. Nonetheless, through repeated failures and the acquisition of knowledge, I ultimately managed to overcome these obstacles. Unquestionably, the most enjoyable aspect of this game for me was assuming the role of Shadow; I derived great satisfaction from his depictions of violence and brutality. »

TarasH 10/10

« A very good action game) the closest analogue of Max Payne, but with more dynamics and hand-to-hand combat) and the plot is good, and the graphics are good for me, the mechanics are interesting, especially if you use them correctly (weapons here have few cartridges, which is why you have to use your fists, and spend wisely bullets) there are no more such games and there won't be any more.. it's a pity that people didn't like it... »

« Game has outdated graphic for its time, but it's hell lot of fun to play - 9/10. »

gamingisgreat 8/10

« Dead To Rights Retribution is a great 3rd person action game Gameplay is broken into 3 types of sections:shooting, brawling, and stealth.Shooting sections are your fairly simple cover-shooting mechanics but the gunplay is somewhat satisfying, even if there are only about 6 weapons in the **** favourite part of the game is the **** combat system is surprisingly **** have low and high punches, guard breaks, clinching, disarms and a bunch of brutal **** sheer brutality of the combat system suits the atmosphere **** stealth sections let you play as a dog named Shadow. These will nearly always consist of getting a keycard for Jack to go through a **** AI in these sections is quite poor, making them quite easy. The graphics are ugly, but the framerate remains solid throughout. The story here is very much filled with b-movie cheese, not the worst I've ever seen though. The sound design is solid, but the soundtrack is mediocre. Overall,Dead To Rights Retribution shows that graphics don't mean everything.Great game, highly recommended. »
