Gamersky 85/100

« Dark Devotion is a well-crafted 2D souls-like action game. The combat system is solid, and the 2D open world is impressive as well. »

The Games Machine 80/100

« Dark Devotion is an enjoyable souls-like action RPG, despite being a bit derivative. »

Screen Rant 80/100

« As a package, Dark Devotion is an impressive indie that does an astonishingly great deal more to iterate on the Soulslike formula than its bigger budget counterparts. »

DarkStation 80/100

« The gameplay is decent and death is typically a result of taking risks that don’t pay off (or being screwed over by some last minute negative affliction). Learning how enemy’s behave, following their tells and knowing how to respond is the best way to conquer the game. Just know that it’s going to take a lot of practice and a whole lot of deaths to reach that point. What really sells the game, though, is an exquisite visual design that demands a coffee table art book. Dark Devotion is for those who swatted Quelaag, scoffed at Father Gascoigne, snickered at the Nameless King, and yawned at the entirety of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. »

RPGamer 80/100

« Those looking for a challenging experience with deliberate combat, engaging atmosphere and lore, and meaningful exploration full of rewards, will not be disappointed with this title. »

The Overpowered Noobs 80/100

« With its focus on treacherous exploration, along with its unique look and world, Dark Devotion delivers an incredible experience for hardcore gamers to enjoy. »

MGG 75/100

« Dark Devotion doesn't invent anything, that's for sure. On the other hand, he is a very good copier and knows how to pick right and left to be inspired and propose a Rogue Like as an attractive pixel art that will certainly not change the vision of the genre, but should bring a significant dose to fans of the genre who need their regular fix. The Castlevania marriage with Dark souls works perfectly and promises long hours to anyone who wants to explore everything. It is also recommended for neophytes of the genre, because even if it can be punitive at times, it is less so than others. »

Vandal 75/100

« Dark Devotion is full of imperfections, but it is also full of great ideas. If you like metroidvania games and the Dark Souls feeling, you should give it a try, since it does deliver a challenging but enjoyable adventure. »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

ichmarich 2/10

« Awkward for a sidescrolled game. There is no JUMP action, WTF ?? And you cannot rebind controls for a gamepad. The story isn't much interesting. »

Wavew 1/10

Methabolica 8/10

« If you like 2D, Rougelike, Souls and Pixelart you will have a lot of fun for about 6-8 hours. After that it's starts to become boring. Rogue progress is imens, so it becomes easier and easier. Nice motivation! »

Tabbou 6/10

« dungeon crawling/platform game where u can't jump nor go back in most of cases »

SPARTAN-010 8/10

« Epic world building, simple yet fun gameplay, great vibes. A great game for it's price range. »

Vossler_XIII 10/10

« One of the hidden gems across the PC souls like games. Beautiful concept, amazing bosses, hard but fun gameplay. Maybe one tiny con is that gamepad support is not that amazing, but overall the controls are great. »

stonedpixel 8/10

« It's hard to believe that a French indie studio with a budget of €30,000 could produce a quality ARPG like Dark Devotion. Hibernian Workshop proves that when an excited fan base partners with a passionate developer great things can happen. Although the narrative in Dark Devotion is simple, it is still a great game. Fans of the brutal souls-like genre and rogue-likes will feel right at home. The often punishing but frequently rewarding challenge that Dark Devotion offers is an unusually deeper experience than most games. When you combine its variety of gameplay, polish and cost it is difficult to find a better value on the market for a new release. There is no doubt in our minds that Hibernian Workshops debut will be the first of many exciting games and we cannot wait to get our hands on their next project. We give Dark Devotion a score of 7.7/10 which places it into the category of “Outstanding” »

Alexdorg 8/10

« I've enjoyed this game a lot since I like 2d art and ds-like adventures with good visuals and story »
