Baba Is You
Baba Is You est un jeu de réflexion indépendant développé et publié par hempuli, sorti le 13 mars 2019 sur PC et Nintendo Switch puis décliné sur Android et iOS en juin 2021. Conçu à l'origine comme une courte démo pour la Nordic Game Jam de 2017, le titre repose sur une mécanique centrale où les règles du niveau sont matérialisées par des blocs amovibles affichant des mots : en les manipulant, le joueur altère le fonctionnement de l'énigme et peut notamment se transformer en rocher, modifier des obstacles ou changer l'objectif à atteindre. Une mise à jour gratuite intitulée Baba Make Level est parue le 17 novembre 2021 avec 250 niveaux supplémentaires et un éditeur de niveaux à partage en ligne. Le jeu, réalisé avec le moteur Chowdren, propose plus de 200 niveaux et a reçu un accueil critique favorable, avec un score Metacritic de 87 et un score OpenCritic de 84. La presse a salué son originalité, comme Nintendo Force Magazine qui a écrit n'avoir « jamais joué à un jeu de réflexion comme celui-ci auparavant », tandis que Vandal l'a qualifié de « petit chef-d'œuvre de conception de puzzles ». Certains joueurs sur Metacritic et Steam soulignent sa créativité, sa difficulté et sa grande valeur de rejouabilité, l'un d'eux déclarant même que c'est « de loin [son] jeu de puzzle préféré ».

« This is simply the best puzzle game. Certainly the best puzzle game I've ever played and one of my favorite games ever. The levels brilliantly point you to the solution and introduce new concepts naturally. It's clear that the developer put a massive effort into each level design, creating an overall beautifully tailored experience starting with the most basic concepts but always introducing and exploring new concept after new concept, sculpting your mind into a new thing entirely. Before playing this game, my top 10 favorite games did include any puzzle games. It was all shooters and RPGs. This game showed me what a puzzle game could truly be. That's how good it is. For those willing to explore the depths, there is a massive game with various hidden secrets. Have we even found them all? Literally all of my friends did not even reach the halfway point of the game. But even then, they all enjoyed it up until they hit their own personal wall. There is a difficulty to this game, but that just creates an immeasurable satisfaction when finding each solution. I guess you could say it's the dark souls of puzzle games in this way. Playing this game was religious experience. But you may find each new revelation to be a lonely experience as you climb above the walls that your friends cannot. Prepare to have your brain tested. Completing the game will increase your IQ by solid 42 points and your brain will swell up trying to fit within your skull. In summary, puzzle games are not for everyone, but if you are a fan of puzzles then this will blow you away in the best possible way. »
