Alien Resurrection, développé par Argonaut Games et édité par Fox Interactive, est sorti le 11 octobre 2000 sur PC, PlayStation, Dreamcast et Sega Saturn. L'intrigue reprend deux cents ans après les événements d'Alien³, alors que le lieutenant Ellen Ripley est clonée par des scientifiques militaires souhaitant exploiter la Reine Alien dont elle était l'hôte, mais les créatures finissent par s'échapper du vaisseau scientifique Auriga, laissant Ripley, Call, DiStephano et Christie tenter de les éliminer et de ramener le vaisseau sur Terre. Le jeu propose un gameplay de tir à la première personne classique, avec des munitions limitées et divers obstacles à contourner ou à désactiver, et le joueur alterne entre les quatre personnages à chaque niveau, chacun disposant de capacités légèrement différentes comme le traceur de mouvement de Call ou les doubles pistolets de Christie, les niveaux tournant autour du maintien en fonctionnement de l'Auriga et de la fuite à travers le vaisseau. Initialement prévu comme le dernier jeu Sega Saturn de Fox Interactive, le développement de cette version a été abandonné avant son achèvement, et des portages PC et Dreamcast ont été envisagés sans jamais être réalisés en raison des ventes décevantes du titre original. Classé parmi les genres tir, aventure et tactique, le jeu affiche une durée de six heures et demie pour l'histoire principale et sept heures pour une partie complétiste, avec une note agrégée de 53,22. La presse a salué l'atmosphère de insécurité permanente du titre selon Games Radar et l'a qualifié de jeu étonnant à célébrer selon Total Video Games, tandis que certains joueurs sur Metacritic l'ont jugé correct et supérieur au film, et d'autres ont regretté une ambiance réussie mais un jeu très injuste.

« This was one of my first, if not THE first exposure to graphic violence in video games. The game's made quite well and I like it; it's moody, scary and all that good horror game stuff. But after playing it recently, it's easy to see that the controls are quite dated. For that reason, I can't recommend playing it today. »

I love the absence of the sountrack - The beeping of the motion tracker coupled with the heartbeat in the background, really sent shivers down my spine. Alien: Resurrection is an underrated, forgotten gem of the PS1 era. If you're a fan os survival-horror FPS and like a challenge, give this one a chance. The only thing I'm not a fan of, are the controls. »
