Wild Wild Racing

« And of course, it looks so prettttty. »
« Without wishing to come across as overly pedantic, there's little in Wild Wild Racing that could be genuinely be termed wild. »
« A more complete gameplay model with refined controls could have made this racing title of the launch, excluding "SSX" of course. »
« Nice graphics and physics and a number of secondary features make for a satisfying ride, but it's ultimately lacking in the innovative thrills we've come to expect from Sony's highly hyped machine. »
« Does a decent job of giving gamers some off-road action, but the graphics aren't up to PS2 standards, and the racing isn't as deep as it could be. »
« The gameplay is nothing special, but not terrible either. The graphics and audio however are well below what we should expect on this system. »
« While the graphics and the sound are on point, the game as a whole is weak. »
« Lacks any real punch and stands as the quintessential middle-of-the-road off-roading game. »

« Do take note I'm reviewing this 2000 game in 2020 in case anyone is into retro gaming as I am and wonder if any of these titles hold up. This one does not. This is an early ps2 release just after the ps2 console came out. This game got not too bad praise for the most part because it was being compared to psone competition still. It is cd based and the graphics are about psone quality and so is the gameplay. You do not see any wheel support, no damage for ramming into objects and about 8 different options on your controllers for steering, acceleration and braking as if it needs so many layout options lol. This is just a serviceable racing so far the least fun racing game I've gone back and checked on. Definitely similar in fun and feel to psone. Very simple and probably only for kids this game does not yet start to cry out for serious gamers for the newest generation of games. By the end of the ps2 generation we saw some awesome race games this one definitely needs to be placed at the other end of the scale, just barely passable as an entry title. (Being a little cruel 20 years later) and the title should now exclude either the word wild or racing from the title lol. For the record I rate games on software quality (gameplay options and whether bug free, not on wow effect) for a 6/10 game it's not very fun nowadays so my score of 6/10 may actually reflect a 2-4/10 for most people. »
