Description (IGDB)

As a peaceful town becomes victim to extreme violence and unrest, a Samurai arrives with the ability to change the town's destiny. In Way of the Samurai 2, you'll take on the role of the Samurai in feudal Japan and battle to save the town of Amahara. Now you can experience traditional Samurai techniques, with realistic swordfighting moves and more than 60 powerful swords. Whether you free the innocent or join the corrupt, your decisions affect the game's ending.

Histoire (IGDB)

The player, a starving ronin (Samurai without a lord), collapses at the gate of a renowned trading town called Amahara. When aided by a little girl the ronin is then introduced to the life of a samurai, whose decisions can give rise to various factions or lead to their destruction, or even stay out of the politics of the those factions.

Avis des critiques et joueurs

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

GameCritics 90/100

« To pan the game for not being more like GTA 3 is misguided, disrespectful to the each title's unique contributions, and also speaks volumes of the lack of critical thinking of the X-Play critics and the industry as a whole. »

3DAvenue 80/100

« The great thing about WOTS2 is that once you do something right or wrong the civilians will remember it. »

Weekly Famitsu 80/100

« 9 / 8 / 8 / 7 - 32 gold [Vol 774] »

GamePro 80/100

« The way of the samurai is a lengthy road that rewards those who show patience and persistence. [Aug 2004, p.66] »

PSM Magazine 80/100

« Combat animations could still look a bit more fluid, and the tactics of foes should probably be a little tougher to suss out, but Way of the Samurai 2 is still a solid experience and a must-play for samurai nuts. [July 2004, p.28] »

GameSpy 75/100

« If you can overlook some minor gameplay quirks, you'll be rewarded with one of the more unique and in-depth action games you've played in a while. »

VideoGamesLife 72/100

« You learn more moves, you collect different swords of various qualities and you can get into a scrap at anytime, anywhere. It's all very much in keeping with the loose cannon samurai lifestyle, that's just a bit too loose for it's own good. »

BonusStage 68/100

« If you are a die-hard "Dynasty Warriors" or "Vagrant Story" fan, you can probably overlook the flaws in the game and find that it really does offer up pretty nice options. »

« I remember playing bunch of hours into this game. It was a pretty fun solid choose your adventure samurai game. I like how you can't just button mash your way through the fights and actually have to strategize much like how a real life samurai would. And I also like how the NPCs remember your actions. Like if you stole from a store, then that same store would point that out when you visit it again. Or sometimes, if you killed someone from a certain faction like the Aoto Gang, a member of that faction would try to attack you when you encounter them in the open world. That's lowkey pretty ahead of its time. It also really adds to the choices you make and make them feel like they matter. Yeah, so, overall.. Not bad. A really solid samurai game. Hope it gets another sequel (not likely though). »

« Another underrated Samurai-themed games that should deserved more praise. More Weapons, More Endings, More Stories, added Dubbing but removed the 2-players versus mode reduced the charm a bit. Much better improvement on WOTS2 than previous title. the best WOTS title series in PS2. »

VLG 10/10

« One of my favorite games of all time. The way you could chose between many ways to react, and how the story branched out into dozens of endings is something i still love. The story, also, was amazing. The combat system, all the weapons available (every single one with their own moves), all the secrets... Just perfect. »

Haydenleej 10/10

« Super underrated title that only gets hate because reviewers are brain dead. Either they don’t understand the permadeath system or time system or they won’t put in the patience to find the tons of swords and moves in the game. »

« A great samurai game to play. It is very hard to find a samurai game better than this. I can't finish all the stories without a guide. However, this game is great. Must play if you are interested in Japanese culture. »
