Combien de temps peux-tu survivre au chômage ?
Nous sommes en 2018, tu es piégé dans un studio quelque part dans un État-providence nordique non révélé. Ton objectif est de survivre dans la boucle abrutissante du chômage de longue durée et de l’isolement social.
Le Jeu
Survie
Tu as des statistiques à gérer : les besoins physiologiques du corps et ta santé mentale. Maintiens un niveau élevé de dopamine pour éviter une mort littérale par ennui. Mange, bois (avec modération), utilise les toilettes, lave-toi, fuis tes responsabilités et reste suffisamment diverti. Reste juste en vie, d’accord ? Survis à la semaine. Ça ira mieux.
Histoire au cœur du jeu
Avance dans ton histoire personnelle. Tu as survécu à la journée ? Alors tu peux aller dormir. Quelque chose t’appelle. Tu trouveras une échappatoire dans tes rêves. C’est lorsque tu dors que tu es le plus vivant. En fait, dans tes rêves, tu peux être tout ce que tu veux. Un salarié. Un mari. Un héros !

Dear supporters of US18, This quick update is to let you all know that 3 additional languages are now available in the game. From today, more people will be able to experience the otherwise unreachable condition of being unemployed! Specifically, this update is for people in: Poland Turkey Thailand This update also brings some small bug fixes and some improvements to the controller (main menu navigation and text prompts in particular). I'm also trying to solve a Steam+Construct-related issue with the Linux build, which is preventing me from bringing the game to people who've been asking for it. I'm hopeful this will be solved in the coming weeks. Stay tuned, more news on this and other matters will arrive soon. ːsteamhappyː

« Unemployment Simulator 2018 uses the language of survival games to tell a bleak, relentless tale of depression and existential horror. At the same time, it’s full of eldritch whimsy, revelling in the abject misery of the modern job hunt with nihilistic abandon. As a labour of love from a solo dev, its rough technical edges and inconsistent controls can frustrate, and there’s no real satisfying narrative pay-off; however, as an atmospheric deep-dive into the human experience of unemployment under late-stage capitalism, it absolutely nails the brief. »
« The epilogue to this story, needless to say, is simply insane, absurd, even vaguely hilarious. The narrative, to be honest, lacks a real beating heart. Furthermore, one constantly gets the feeling that Samuel Lehikoinen simply had fun throwing whatever came to mind into the mix. Yet, it's undeniable that the narrative device is powerful and crazy enough to keep the player glued to the end credits. Also because Unemployment Simulator 2018 has the great merit of being long enough: long enough to be boring, long enough to motivate the player to get through yet another pointless day, but one that could have a twist—unreal, intriguing, and even vaguely terrifying. »

The story is engaging and makes you emotionally connect with the characters, while the level design encourages exploration without feeling repetitive.
