Description (IGDB)

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is a 3D action platformer which takes place right after the events at the end of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. Players control Spyro as he searches for his friend Cynder. Initially, he has lost all of his different breath powers from the first game, but he gradually recovers the ability to breathe fire, ice, earth and electricity. New to this game is the ability for Spyro to slow down time using his newly-learned 'Dragon Time' ability. While the game has some basic puzzles involving pressing switches, the main focus is still around fighting. Spryo's primary attack is his headbutt, but he can also use his assorted breaths to defeat foes provided that he has enough magic power. He also earns blue gems from defeating foes which will allow him to level up his powers.

Avis des critiques et joueurs

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Play Magazine 85/100

« What Insomniac began Krome have now made completely their own, taking Spyro from a lighthearted adventure to a hardcore dark platformer. [Nov 2007, p.56] »

GamingTrend 84/100

« This is definitely an action oriented title which also happens to feature a sizeable amount of platform hopping. If you can get past the hiccups and slight annoyances, you’ll find a game that is fun to play. »

Play.tm 72/100

« Overall I became quite fond of the violet dude, probably more appealing to the younger audiences but nevertheless fans of the series should not be disappointed. »

Game Chronicles 70/100

« In the end, it gets a thumbs-up from this reviewer, and a guarded recommendation for platform gaming fans in general. »

Game Informer 63/100

« Spyro's gameplay works just like it's suppose to--just like it has in every other game in the last decade, so it feels like the development team just phoned this one in. [Nov 2007, p.142] »

GamesRadar+ 60/100

« A solid platformer with some nice visuals and simple but enjoyable gameplay. It doesn't have any huge, glaring deficiencies to speak of, but at the same time, it's simply not cut from the sort of stock that makes a classic. »

GameDaily 60/100

« While The Eternal Night tastes delicious, the benefits of that flavor aren't enough to make it worth eating. »

Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK 60/100

« Endless rock-hard combat. [Dec 2007, p.86] »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

Spyra 10/10

« Amo The Legend of Spyro. »

Charcoal64 7/10

« Not a bad game, but it does have a lot of short comings. You can definitely tell the budget was low on this game, compared to New Beginning. However, I do think it is better than The New Beginning due to the element breathes being more fleshed out this time around, dark Spyro is a cool bonus, new game plus, and more memorable levels and fights. »

Pixelgod 8/10

« Lo jugue de muy niño y me flipaba, de mayor ya no lo he vuelto a jugar pero me la pela, un 8, algun problema? »

Yojimbo2015 6/10

« 3D platform adventure aimed at children with an impressive voice cast and pretty graphics, but the story and cut scenes are weak and some sections are so unnecessarily difficult that they are frustrating for adults, never mind the younger audience it is aimed at. »

RealDomtendo 0/10

« Cynder's face looks like the mask of enclave soldier from Fallout 2 what the heck Activision? »

wojtulace1 7/10

« This game is decent. I couldn't care lesss about its story but the graphic design is very unique. There is a mystic, dark, fantasy vibe in every level. And the gameplay is also good except there is a bit too much fighting but finally a 3D platform game that is not easy (coming after Jak 3 and R&C GC). I hadn't played any spyro games before this one and later I tried to play Spyro:Reignited Trilogy on PS4, which was terrible. »

Zerockman 2/10

« The Legend of Spyro: A new Beginning was bad, but this one just blows it out of the water. So bad so that I'm unable to understand how some people, especially some critics, were able to write positive reviews. In fact, there's nothing redeemable about this game. The story is bad, the art and music are lame and forgettable, but the gameplay is where it truly stinks. The platforming is scarce, boring and simplistic, while the combat (which composes 99% of the game) is repetitive, boring, and artificially difficult. It's already annoying that the combat is so lame, but why is it so unfairly tough? Spyro has no invincibility frames, so chances are that if you're surrounded by enemies (which happens all the time, since you're facing waves of dozens at a time) you'll be stun-locked to death. And the bosses are a pain to deal with, most of them don't have any build-up animations, and their AI is awful. Make yourself a favour and don't play this game. »

« i like the combat, exploration, bosses and all that, the atmosphere is really dark and edgy which i didn't mind as this was my first introduction into something like that, i really enjoyed this game way back and i still like playing it, the game is hard and challenged me way back, and still somewhat now, it's a difficult game, but it's certainly doable and rewarding when you beat a difficult boss. Voice acting is alright and i think the creature design is solid, the areas you visit i remember well, overall i would recomend this to people that don't like the darker aproach to spyro and want something on the more difficult side, though there are certainly better dark, difficult games out there like a certain game everyone wants to compare everything to. I think the music is great and fits the mood of every area, great ost for this one overall. I haven't played the first of the legend of spyro trilogy, but i have played some of the third, i dropped that after a bit but i plan to get back to that and i'll probably play the first one at some point, that one doesn't seem as dark, a bit more varied in light and dark tones seems like. I like this game. »
