« The Binding of Isaac is a loony action/adventure game with a Kawai Gore atmosphere, random challenges and a varied gameplay. Thanks to the talent of the developers, the formula works perfectly well and draws you back in easily to slaughter some more, or see the poor Isaac being bludgeoned violently. »

« The Binding Of Isaac is pitch-black and hard as hell. »

Destructoid 95/100

« A deceptively deep game. That it only costs $4.99 is nothing short of astounding. I don't see myself putting it down until I hit that magical 100% completion mark, which is hours and hours away at this point. This is one trip that I recommend to everyone open-minded enough to give it a chance. »

GameSpy 90/100

« Sprinkled with humor and nods to gaming's past, The Binding of Isaac is a ballsy game that revels in its absurd moments. Shock value aside, you'll want to play this indie gem over and over again. It's imaginative, utterly absorbing, and the best five dollars I've spent all year. »

Vandal 90/100

« Addictive and very surprising, even when you have been playing several hours, The Binding of Isaac is yet another quality game from independent developers. »

DarkZero 90/100

« The Binding of Isaac is a game I would reccomend to anyone old enough to hold serious opinions on family planning. It is available on Steam for less than the price of a cinema ticket and it deserves your attention. »

GamePro 90/100

« Thankfully, Isaac's shmup-like approach makes the game a little easier than the nightmare of a melee-only roguelike, though it's still no cakewalk. Like the Souls series, you'd best keep on your guard, since death is permanent and there are no saves. A playthrough can be as short as an hour, but with randomized loot and boss encounters on top of several unlockables, you'll want to put Isaac through hell multiple times. »

IncGamers 90/100

« If the style doesn't put you off, buy this. Now. »

« Difficult, frustrating, and unforgiving. I have to admit that I still need to beat it. It's not impossible, but it's really hard. That's why I love Edmund's games. The story isn't detailed, but it's still enjoyable. I've heard it's inspired by the author's troubled past with religion, but I'm not sure. »

« The Binding of Isaac is a quirky and macabre roguelike that has captured the hearts of gamers with its blend of challenging gameplay, disturbingly charming visuals, and endless replayability. This indie gem, developed by Edmund McMillen, has become a cult classic for good reason. At first glance, The Binding of Isaac's aesthetic may shock or even repel some players. The game's dark and grotesque art style is unapologetically unsettling, with a narrative inspired by biblical themes and grotesque imagery. However, beneath this unsettling surface lies a deeply engaging and addictive gameplay experience. The core of The Binding of Isaac's appeal is its roguelike mechanics. Players guide Isaac through randomly generated dungeon floors filled with grotesque monsters and grotesque power-ups. Each playthrough is a unique experience, with the element of randomness keeping the game fresh and exciting. Death is inevitable, but it's also a learning experience, as you gradually become more skilled at navigating the game's challenges. The game's controls are simple and responsive, which is essential given the fast-paced nature of the gameplay. The variety of power-ups and items you can collect during your playthroughs adds depth to the experience. Experimenting with different combinations of items and power-ups keeps the game feeling fresh, even after dozens of hours of play. The Binding of Isaac's difficulty level is notorious, and it's not for the faint of heart. The game is unforgiving, and success often requires a mix of skill and luck. This high difficulty can be both a strength and a weakness, as it may frustrate some players while providing an exhilarating challenge for others. The game's dark humor and themes won't appeal to everyone, but for those who appreciate its unique style, it offers a darkly comedic narrative that unfolds through gameplay and cryptic storytelling. The lore of the game is hidden in item descriptions and subtle hints, adding to the mystery and intrigue. One of the drawbacks of The Binding of Isaac is that its graphics and sound may feel somewhat dated compared to more recent indie titles. However, for many players, these visuals contribute to the game's distinct **** conclusion, The Binding of Isaac is a challenging and highly replayable roguelike that may not be suitable for everyone due to its dark themes and high difficulty level. However, for those who appreciate its unique brand of dark humor and enjoy the roguelike genre, it's a must-play title. Its addictive gameplay, variety of power-ups, and endless replayability make it a standout indie game that continues to capture the hearts of dedicated players. »
