Super Hydorah, développé par Locomalito et édité par Abylight Studios, est sorti le 20 septembre 2017 sur PC, iOS, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One et PlayStation Vita. Ce shoot’em up horizontal non linéaire, classé parmi les genres Jeu de tir, Arcade et Indépendant, place le joueur aux commandes du Delta Lance pour repousser l’invasion des Meroptiens sur l’étoile Omios, seul ou en coopération. Le titre propose une vingtaine de niveaux subdivisés en sous-niveaux, de nombreux boss et ennemis, ainsi qu’une sélection d’itinéraires et d’armements, le tout agrémenté d’une bande-son originale dépassant soixante pistes. D’une durée principale d’environ trois heures et proposé au prix de 7,99 euros, le jeu a reçu un score Metacritic de 82 et une note agrégée de 77,44. La presse a salué l’œuvre comme bien plus qu’une simple résurrection des classiques du genre, certains critiques évoquant même l’un des jeux espagnols les plus importants de ces dernières années, tandis que des joueurs sur Steam y voient un bel hommage aux SHMUP old school et une âme proche des Gradius de Konami.
