Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, développé par Sumo Digital et édité par Sega, est sorti le 15 novembre 2012 sur PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android, iOS, Wii U et PlayStation Vita. Ce jeu de course arcade et sportive met en scène Sonic et plus de vingt personnages All-Stars légendaires, chacun disposant de son propre véhicule transformable capable de passer d'une voiture à un bateau puis à un avion en pleine course, sur terre, sur mer et dans les airs. Les joueurs peuvent s'affronter sur vingt-cinq circuits et arènes à travers plus de vingt pistes, en déployant un arsenal et le coup spécial All-Star de leur personnage, que ce soit en ligne à dix joueurs ou en écran partagé à quatre.
Le titre repose sur le Sumo Engine et utilise la gestion des droits numériques Steam, pour un prix de 19,99 euros. Sa durée principale est estimée à sept heures et demie, tandis qu'un parcours completiste atteint quarante-quatre heures. Le score Metacritic s'élève à 79 et la note agrégée à 79,30. Dans leurs retours, Gaming Age a salué un bel hommage aux personnages et franchises classiques de SEGA avec un fort accent sur le fan service, et Eurogamer Germany a relevé la possibilité d'y jouer même sans connaissance de la marque. Certains joueurs sur Metacritic ont apprécié la bande-son et le mode carrière, notant une grande variété de modes au-delà de la course, tandis que d'autres sur Steam ont jugé le gameplay sympathique pour un jeu de 2012 ou simplement qualifié le titre de bon jeu.

« This game is better than mario kart 8, is fast paced, you feel the speed of your car and is just so much fun. I missed out on this one onXbox360 and I am only playing this now on an Xbox one and runs amazingly and looks good still. I hope this is what SEGA are striving to beat with it'sCrosswords title. »
