Eurogamer Germany 100/100

« Shadow Gambit shines with its well thought-out systems, the multitude of characters and possibilities, and offers you significantly more options and even more reasons to seriously think about your approach and experiment. That's exactly what such games are all about, and it's outstandingly implemented here. If you liked Shadow Tactics and / or Desperados 3, don't think twice and get Shadow Gambit, you won't regret it. »

Games.cz 100/100

« The perfect specimen of its genre and its current undisputed king. Confident, expertly designed, beautiful and without weak points - and it implements elements of other genres in order to advance its own. »

LEVEL (Czech Republic) 100/100

« The game uses all the building blocks really well, plus it adds extra ingredients to the mix. On top of that, it adds a polished diamond of gameplay, the whole work embellished with refined audiovisuals. [Issue#330] »

GamingTrend 95/100

« With innumerable improvements to the formula, Mimimi has delivered another hit. Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a wonderful tactical title with an even better story than its predecessors. This is the formula perfected. »

GameGrin 95/100

« Shadow Gambit is a near-perfect game for stealth strategy fans. The new sandbox approach means that levels feel a little less curated than Mimimi’s previous titles — but who cares when you’re having this much fun? »

COGconnected 92/100

« Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a challenging and extremely entertaining stealth action and tactics game. It has a charming setting and story, with characters and mechanics that encourage creative and varied approaches to combat. There aren’t nearly enough great pirate games, so I’m glad Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew sailed into port. »

KeenGamer 92/100

« Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a wild, creative, and fulfilling strategy adventure taking place in the fictional Lost Caribbean. The ragtag crew of cursed pirates aboard The Red Marley compliment each other in both gameplay and personality. The fantastical abilities of each pirate, coupled with the large and open-ended levels, give players the freedom to approach their objective from any angle. This thrilling stealth tactics adventure is captivating, addictive, and definitely worth experiencing. »

Impulsegamer 92/100

« Exceptional stealth-based strategy gameplay with fun characters, colourful visuals and an emphasis on playing your way in your own time. »

« Let me start by saying that if you enjoy RTT games, or have enjoyed even one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you should not miss this game! It is perhaps the most expansive game of its kind and has a big, fun, swashbuckling story to enjoy. This is the Mimimi gameplay at its finest, with their most visually stunning game to boot and featuring a fantastic soundtrack. Such a shame the studio closed! The game follows a very colorful and likeable cast of undead pirates as they make their way across Caribbean isles and oceans in search of treasure and battling the pesky Inquisition. Because this has a fantasy pirate setting, each character has a very creative set of abilities to help them sneak around and take out enemies. I enjoyed experimenting with everyone's abilities and choosing a team for a mission, with the right mix of skills, was very satisfying. They are all also very well written and voice acted with fleshed out stories, depending on how much dialogue and activites you engage with. Quite a feat considering you can get up to ten crew mates. There are several islands to explore and you'll visit them multiple times during the game. This wasn't as repetitive as it might sound, as most islands are quite massive, and you can land on and explore a different part of it each time. There is a bit of late game repetition, but for me the story was engaging enough to keep pushing forward. Such a terrible shame about the studio... they were the absolute best in this genre! I love their other games as well. Now go play this masterpiece! »

« I never write reviews, but I feel I must warn people not to waste their money. I can't understand how the same people who made the awesome Shadow Tactics and Desperados III has made this rubbish. The gameplay is good, but the story, characters and conversations are so terrible that I haven't even finished the game. »

« I had a lot of fun :) the game was interesting with nice logics behind. Recommended :) »

JCVD 8/10

« Fantastic game, fantastic (and NEW) gameplay mechanics which add a ton of joy to this genre. Level-design is fantastic and the new possibilities for going stealth are kicking the game to a higher leverl. Character are well done. It's therefore with a sad face I must say that Minimi Games stopped after this banger. Nobody can come close to Minimi, they put any other stealth-tactics dev to shame. The only reason why I gave it an 8 instead of 9 is because Desperados III (also by Minimi) which had that western feel and was a bit moredown-to-earth which I generally like a bit more. Still a big fat 8.5/8.9. »

ElderMist 10/10

« Have not played this genre of games before and this one showed how much I was missing. Interesting unique characters that not only allow for different types of gameplay but evoke the whole new approach when used in combination make it possible to execute the same task in hundreds of different ways. Level design makes it possible to walk in the same places with a great interest and just a turn of camera can show a whole bunch of new opportunities. Visuals and sound are also on a high level! So, despite some minor issues this game is a must play especially for a newbees of this genre. »

digitalhobbit 4/10

« I loved Desperados 3 but couldn't force myself to play beyond the first 3 missions of Shadow Gambit. The technical side is solid, with good controls for both keyboard/mouse and gamepad. The puzzles are decent. But I couldn't stand the story and characters. Worst of all, the ship scenes between the actual missions felt super tedious. Just pointless, time consuming filler. That's ultimately what made me stop playing. »
