Samurai Shodown
Samurai Shodown

« Samurai Shodown is a pristine work of fighting game clarity. »
« In bringing the series back from the dead to today’s competitive scene, Samurai Shodown not only chooses to honor the series legacy but dares to be old-school. Instead of flashing extra frosting to attract attention, the game trusts that its basic gameplay is enough to keep the players coming back to it. There’s no trendy character customization and all the collectibles are just gallery items, such as sounds, artwork and movies, you unlock by playing, not paying. Samurai Shodown is like a Chinese checkers to more showy and easygoing fighting games out there but not any less engaging. It’s not how fast you can hit but when you hit that matters. Uncompromised and dignified, Samurai Shodown might be a niche title in its genre but it does its own thing and succeeds in it. »
« Despite some shortcomings, Samurai Shodown doesn't disappoint. Its slow pace belies a depth that rivals any fighting game, while still providing an experience unlike almost any other. If the stunning visuals don’t leave you breathless, then the unrelenting tension felt during combat certainly will. »
« Samurai Shodown does the near-impossible task of blending old and new into an incredibly fun, solid fighting game package. »
« Samurai Shodown is one of the best and most unique fighting games this generation, hands down. »
« If you're a fan of Samurai Shodown, you definitely need to check out this game. Even if you've never played a SamSho before, check out this game. It's easily the most unique fighter out on the market at the moment thanks to the emphasis on precision attacks and punishing the opponent for high damage rather than trying for long combos and guesses with mixups. Samurai Shodown is honestly the best game that SNK has given us in recent years. It's very polished and it looks and sounds fantastic! »
« Overall, Samurai Shodown has some rough edges to it – but fewer than any entry has had in around 20 years. It’s the best-playing entry in the series since the legendary second installment, and stands out nicely even in today’s crowded field of fighters. Much like it did in the early ’90s, by being different than the pack with its feudal Japanese setting and story, it allows the core game to be different even if the framework is still a single-plane fighter. It’s a must-play for any lapsed fans of the series and will not only rekindle old memories, but forge new ones for all who play it. »
« Dynamic and dangerous, there’s no other fighting game like Samurai Shodown on the market. After a decade away, this latest chapter proves that idea once again with the sharpest swordsmanship combat around that manages to unleash a barrage of modern cuts while still retaining the magic of the original game. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« A solid revival of the weapons-based 2D fighter. This game has a much slower pace than you'd expect. It's also rather bare-bones compared to many other fighting games. And the loading screens are quite lengthy. But the combat is satisfying, the graphics are excellent and the lineup is great. Every fighter has a unique style of combat. Despite its lack of single-player modes and bonus content, "Samurai Shodown" is a terrific modern update. I would rate it with an 8.2 out of 10. »
« Samurai Shodown on PS4 / PS5 like NeoGeo worths itself with original visually art and graphics withinto modernity, expressive animations, precise and decent gameplay, offers unique dynamism focusing on good defense, precise timing, short couble of aggression actions and fine tactics, so there are; varied shorter ranged fast's, mid ranged mid strongs and wide ranged very strong and varied ranged fast and slow special moves, super special moves, strategic paced intense gameplay. The collussion and blood effects, the body expressions, sound's and music are origial in the Samurai Shodown ○ Spirits immersive swordy fighting universe. Includes; story mode, along with training, versus, online and challenge modes, remains fresh and engaging, intense swordy fighting. »
« A gorgeous revival of the 90's franchise. Fans of the older games will surely enjoy the combat. But the lack of extensive modes and content is disappointing. Even SNK's King of Fighters 14 had more for players to chew on. Still, there's enough to justify a full priced purchase. "Samurai" is unique in the annals of fighting titles. It's more slower-paced than either Street Fighter V or Soul Calibur VI. Unfortunately, loading screens are a bit long in between matches. Despite the flaws, this is the best in the series since Part II. I would rate it with an 8.1 out of 10. »
« Beautiful graphics. Few default characters. Too many paid DLCs. The loading time of the story mode is too long. The last boss is too hard and his attack is too cowardly. »
« This is one of the best games in the Samurai Shodown franchise, director Nobuyuki Kuroki managed to capture all the essence of the franchise in this title, a punitive game, but easy to learn, very beautiful graphics resembling a Japanese painting. »
« Not my type of fighting game. Its reminiscent of old school fighting games so i can see why some people would like it, but again it wasn't my jam. »
« The amazing return of the franchise, Samurai Shodown brought again the return of nostalgic warriors, and the newcomers are also well acepted. The news graphics is very amazing and the gameplay is the better of Samurai Shodown games. SNK finally nailed it this time. »
« Juego de lucha entretenido, al estilo japonés con espadas, katanas... el modo historia es repetitivo, pero hay una gran variedad de personajes a elegir, si buscas un juego para pasar un rato divertido no lo dudes. »
