Dead or Alive 6, développé par Team NINJA et édité par Koei Tecmo Games, est un jeu de combat en 3D sorti le 1er mars 2019 sur PC, PlayStation 4 et Xbox One. Produit par Koei Tecmo Games, ce titre propose un combat rapide avec des niveaux multizones dynamiques intégrés à l'expérience compétitive. L'histoire fait suite à Dead or Alive 5 et suit deux récits autour de la lutte entre Ninja et DOATEC et de M.I.S.T. dirigée par Donovan, pendant le sixième tournoi, Kasumi ayant quitté son clan pour un village montagnard alors que le monde est menacé par un nouveau plan. Le système de combat repose sur un triangle où frappes, projections et prises s'annulent, et intègre une jauge de rupture activable via RB pour des coups briseurs, super prises ou ruées fatales, avec des zones dangereuses comme la foule ou la destruction de masse. Le moteur Katana Engine permet des graphismes réalistes avec sueur et poussière. La presse a salué ses combats accessibles et son rendu visuel, tandis que certains joueurs regrettent des pratiques de DLC agressives et une présentation en baisse, d'autres jugeant la haine excessive. Le jeu affiche un score Metacritic de 73 et un temps de histoire principale d'environ trois heures.

« Dead or Alive 6 is amazing. It’s the best looking fighting game out there, bar none, and has a combat system that is both instantly accessible for newcomers, without feeling condescending, and yet also offering plenty of depth and complexity for experienced fans. It’s not perfect; the story mode is enjoyable but slightly undercooked, and one suspects that we’ll have to wait until pretty deep into the DLC strategy for the real over-the-top humour that the series is most famous for to start to really shine through. But then, those criticisms also applied to Dead or Alive 5, and that was a game that I played on an almost weekly basis for six years. I can’t see Dead or Alive 6 being any different. »

« The game is an absolute scam. The costumes are a grind to get, the dlcs are pricey, and the game is a huge downgrade in terms of presentation and music compared to previous entries. The graphics are underwhelming and feel flat. Please also avoid the new last round edition of this game. It's an even BIGGER scam! »

« É um game incrível, gráficos excelente, jogabilidade sensacional, porém algumas coisas incomodam muito, por exemplo não ter uma blacklist, sistema de busca online ta bem ultrapassado, os replays não da pra voltar caso você perdeu algum detalhe, ou seja tem que assistir tudo de novo. Mas acredito que no Dead or alive 7 isso vai ser corrigido, mesmo com os rumores de cancelamento, acredito que esse rumor de cancelamento foi apenas para evitar vazamentos. »

« I know DOA is basically shelved for now as a franchise but hopefully reviews will be read if they ever choose to reboot or release a new game. Gameplay wise, very fluid and responsive. It feels like a step up from DOA5. However, the AI is awful even on the hardest difficulty. I wouldn't call myself an expert on the game yet I find it no challenge at all. They removed skimpy outfits, which maybe I'm in a minority but it doesn't bother me. Fan service absolutely ruined DOA4 in my opinion, where almost every unlockable ending for a female character was just some ridiculous fan service that served no purpose to the character. I would say toning it down a little was a good move though doing it to bow to a small mob was not. Story mode is an absolute waste of time. I don't expect good stories in fighting games though I think Tekken 6 proved they can be both goofy and compelling at the same time. This has just fleeting scenes, easy difficulty and you unlock nothing not even coins for costumes. As a fan of the series since DOA3 when it replaced Tekken as my favourite fighter game, I felt and still feel insulted that the new characters are paywalled. You treat your fans that way, no wonder they abandoned it. »
