Description (IGDB)

The classic multiplayer roguelike, Risk of Rain, returns with an extra dimension and more challenging action. No run will ever be the same with randomized stages, enemies, bosses, and items. Play solo, or team up with up to four friends to fight your way through hordes of monsters, unlock new loot, and find a way to escape the planet.

Histoire (IGDB)

Risk of Rain 2 follows the crew of UES: Safe Travels as they try to find UES: Contact Light and any survivors along their path. They have to try and survive the hostile wildlife and environment as difficulty increases over time, navigating Petrichor V via the teleporters strewn across the entire planet. The crew loop endlessly through many distinct environments, but end upon the moon to defeat the final boss. With each run, you’ll learn the patterns of your foes, and even the longest odds can be overcome with enough skill. A unique scaling system means both you and your foes limitlessly increase in power over the course of a game–what once was a bossfight will in time become a common enemy. Myriad survivors, items, enemies, and bosses return to Risk 2, and many new ones are joining the fight. Brand new survivors like the Artificer and MUL-T debut alongside classic survivors such as the Engineer, Huntress, and–of course–the Commando. With over 75 items to unlock and exploit, each run will keep you cleverly strategizing your way out of sticky situations.

Hallowed Concepts: Dev Diary #2 - Hexes and Hallowed Items

Hello everyone and welcome to Dev Diary #2 for the upcoming Risk of Rain 2 DLC: Hallowed Concepts. In today’s sneak peek we’ll be looking at the two new item tiers being introduced: Hexes and Hallowed items. Before all that.. hold on..… I can hear her voice…… N’Kuhana is granting me a vision…… I can see.. I can’t believe it…. It's you!! And you’re wishlisting Hallowed Concepts right now!!Weshan!Hexes and Hallowed ItemsIn Dev Diary #1 we talked about the design goals for the DLC and how we want players to earn power via greater challenges in this update, and the new item tiers are no exception! The two tiers are tied at the hip, in order to get the unique benefits of the Hallowed items, you’ll have to endure the pain and suffering of the Hexes.Let’s start with the 10 Hexes.Hexes are items that only have one purpose - to make your life harder. They come with a range of negative effects with ZERO upsides…Take the Hex of Strife. Teased at the end of the last Dev Diary this Hex gives the teleporter 1 Shrine of the Mountain effect, without the extra rewards. No bonus item, just bonus pain in the shape of bigger, badder bosses. Now let's consider the Hex of Blindness. You like being able to see the stage while playing Risk of Rain right? Seeing where chests are, scouting for distant shrines, anticipating attacks from that Elder Lemurian running at you from miles away. Great stuff. How would you like to not do those things? Sounds PRETTY INCONVENIENT to me dude. Well, the Hex of Blindness limits your vision to just 96 meters, shrouding the rest of the stage in utter darkness. But why? WHY would you even pick up these nefarious knickknacks?Have you not been paying attention? The 11 Hallowed Items, obviously. We’ll be keeping the exact method a secret for now, but during your run you will discover the ability to rid yourself of these Hexes in exchange for Hallowed Items.Hallowed items are some of the most unique and strongest items in the game. Take the Infernal Mark for example.Going through the pain of a Hex or two will be well worth it with this Hallowed gift - attacking an enemy gives a chance to apply a Soul Brand. Soul Branded monsters draw attention from any enemy near them and have friendly fire enabled, allowing the beasts of Petrichor V to do your dirty work for you.Alternatively, you may be lucky enough to discover the Dream Crucible. When you have one of these Hallowed Items in your inventory you have a chance, once per stage, that when another item goes on cooldown, or is consumed, that the Dream Crucible will be consumed instead. Mega band proc? Double Dios? Saved Watches? All possible! This is the perfect DLC to introduce this item as it even works with the N’tormat pages we revealed in the previous Dev Diary allowing you to use them more than once per stage! We can't wait for you to discover the other Hexes and Hallowed items included in the DLC. Join us next time when we’ll be showing off some of the unique Trial stages coming in Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts. Thanks again! Bye for now. - The Risk of Rain Team

Hallowed Concepts: Dev Diary #1 - New Content and Design Goals

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first Dev Diary for Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts. In Hallowed Concepts players will explore Risk of Rain’s dark underbelly and the insidious cult of N’Kuhana whose stolen relic comes at a hefty price. In today’s Dev Diary we’ll be looking at The content scope of Hallowed ConceptsHow that content is shaped by the design goals of the DLC And finally we’ll take a look at one of the key features of the update: The N’tormat.Much like N'kuhana, my dark knowledge also comes at a price… a price paid in wishlists. Please head on over to the Hallowed Concepts Steam Page and give it a wishlist.   Alright, now that you’ve done that you’re ready to read the sacred text of this Dev Diary… New ContentHallowed Concepts is shaping up to be our most distinct DLC yet. It brings with it a lineup of content unlike anything we’ve done before. Some elements will feel familiar, while others push into entirely new territory for Risk of Rain. So what can you expect?2 New Survivors.Several New Trial Stages with multiple objective variants including a “Boss Rush” Trial3 New Standard Stages.3 New Bosses.4 New Enemies.2 New Item Types10 of one type…11 of the other… (more on these another time)3 New Standard Items (one lunar equipment item, two boss items)New Unlockable Survivor Skins for Commando, Huntress, Bandit, MUL-T, Engineer, Artificer, REX, Loader, Mercenary, Acrid, Captain, Railgunner, Void Fiend, Seeker, False Son & CHEF* (16 total)1 New Elite Type.New Interactables.New Music by DLC3 composer Stavros Markonis.New Secrets. One new “Curio”: The N’tormat.* Developer Note: We heard your feedback loud and clear that you’d like skins for Survivors from previous DLC too. In Hallowed Concepts not only will all the base game survivors be getting a skin each, all the DLC1 and DLC2 Survivors will be too!Psst, here’s a preview of one of those skins because you were cool and wishlisted earlier: To learn more about the Hallowed Concepts content let's dive into some of our design goals for the DLC.Hallowed Concepts Design Goals & the N’TormatThroughout the previous three DLCs we’ve dished out player power with minimal challenge involved. Void Cradles & Seeds, Halcyon Shrines, Computational Exchange & Drone buffs all give you large power boosts with relatively minor and/or temporary setbacks. These often allow you to continue your runs with significantly more power in return. There are a number of reasons for this, not least of which - it's fun!In Hallowed Concepts we wanted to push a lot further on both sides of that deal. We’re going to give you the option to steal huge amounts of power, but we wanted to balance that with increasingly dangerous threats and challenges. We also wanted to do this in a way that’s more integrated into your existing runs rather than being funneled into a new DLC path.To steal the dark power of N’Kuhana you’ll have toComplete the Wake EventAccess the TrialsDiscover Shrines of Compulsion & their unique challenges.Obtain the N’tormat and gather pages.& MoreThese features each come with benefits and setbacks, all of which will be appreciated more if we keep them secret and you discover them for yourself! But this is a Dev Diary, of course we’re going to give you a peek…  For starters, let's talk about the N’tormat itself. The best way to describe this Curio is as new special equipment (which doesn't take up your normal equipment slot) which starts with a single ability that can be used once per stage. Throughout your run by interacting with DLC4 exclusive content you can gain extra pages each with a powerful new ability. One such power is Dark Alchemy. This allows you to target a high-tier item and DESTROY IT. Great stuff, really pat ourselves on the back for that one. Of course, there is a benefit for this act of item violence - the item is downgraded to a lower tier, but duplicated!Another power you can obtain is Fanatic Summons. By now you must have seen the Lynx Tribe enemies coming in the DLC - how would you like a friendly pet Lynx Pup? How would you like… AN ARMY OF THEM?But I hear you saying, “wait a second… if these new fangled ‘pages’ are so strong, what are these ‘dangerous threats’ you keep talking about to balance it out?”We have some wild things in store - but those are for another day… alright, here’s just one:Thank you very much for checking out this first Dev Diary for Hallowed Concepts, don’t forget to go and wishlist over on the new Steam Page. We’ll see you next time!Bye for now!- The Risk of Rain TeamP.S. You can catch more info about Hallowed Concepts including an interview with ROR2 Lead Designer Bruno Fontanetti in the latest Gearbox Devcast!

Avis des critiques et joueurs

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Game Revolution 100/100

« As far as I’m concerned, Risk of Rain 2 is as good as gaming gets. Unlocking items, discovering new synergies, planning out builds — it’s all immensely satisfying. Make no mistake: This is a tough game, and the randomized nature inherent to roguelikes just won’t click with some people. But, for players with a taste for escalating action and challenge, this game stands as one of the very best in the genre. »

PC Invasion 95/100

« With hardly any flaws or shortcomings, Risk of Rain 2 more than delivers. Its pulse-pounding, off-the-wall, challenging action, combined with countless secrets and unlockables, are sure to entertain and excite you. Play in short bursts or an hour until you scream, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" -- you're bound to enjoy every minute of it. »

Shacknews 90/100

« Risk of Rain 2 is a top-of-the-line roguelike. No matter how familiar you get with the controls, you’re never comfortable, as death is always one or two mistakes away. The vast number of enemies, items, and abilities make for an endlessly replayable experience. The extensive work done in the game’s more than a year in early access has paid off, as Risk of Rain 2 is one of the best roguelikes to hit the market in recent memory. »

3DJuegos 90/100

« Risk of Rain 2 is a must have. A love letter to the genre, a fun and engaging experience with tons of content, personality, and secrets. Version 1.0 adds a great final boss on top of the many enemies, items, challenges, maps and features included in the same patch and the previous ones. »

Critical Hit 90/100

« Risk of Rain 2 is an exceptional example of how to combine the rogue-like genre with shooter mechanics. Deep, satisfying and just so addictive, it’s taking every cell in my body to prevent me from taking a week off from work just to play more of it. »

God is a Geek 90/100

« Risk of Rain 2 is an excellent time that takes you from a scrappy fight with some pesky aliens to a desperate battle for survival in a 3D bullet hell every run. »

The Indie Game Website 90/100

« We have finally lived through the full release of Risk of Rain 2. With the full release comes a new character, who is excellent, and a true final level, final boss, and an ending. On top of that, we get even more excellent music from Chris Christodoulou. It cements Risk of Rain 2 as one of the best roguelikes of all time, and certainly one of the best co-op roguelikes too. There are a couple of things I was hoping to see with the full release, like more skills for the other survivors, but I’m sure they’ll arrive somewhere down the line. As it stands, if you’ve not played Risk of Rain 2, you’re doing yourself a disservice. »

CD-Action 90/100

« A shooter with a roguelike’s soul, Risk of Rain 2 is pretty much devoid of any deeper meaning, but at the same time perfectly executed and brilliant in its simplicity. [11/2020, p.33] »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

nugehood 10/10

« Risk of Rain 2 is the definition **** game. It has a great gameplay, graphic, soundtrack, and story. As a roguelike, RoR2 really excel on how it treats replayability within each run. You will get random items that you can stack, enemy variants, stage variants, different bosses, different characters to play with their own different skills, and of course, game modifiers and other game modes. This is the literal definition of the "bang for your buck" deal. You could never go wrong with RoR2; it will keep you accompany by the many unlockable and features. »

datsir5061 10/10

« Risk of Rain 2 is easily one of my favorite roguelikes. Every run feels different thanks to the huge variety of items, characters, and builds you can create. The gameplay starts off simple but quickly becomes chaotic in the best way possible as you stack powerful items and fight through increasingly difficult waves of **** combat is fast, satisfying, and rewards both skill and experimentation. I especially love how every character has a unique playstyle, which keeps the game feeling fresh even after many hours. The co-op mode is also fantastic and makes for some incredibly fun and memorable moments with **** top of that, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing and perfectly matches the atmosphere of the game. Between the great music, addictive gameplay loop, and near-endless replayability, Risk of Rain 2 is a game that keeps me coming back for "just one more run." I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys roguelikes or action games. »

BigJay 9/10

« This game is one of the best ways to accidentally waste 3 continuous hours without even realizing it. However I find the chest mechanic to be largely unintuitive, and I wish there were more ways to end your run, as well as some more interesting boss fights. »

Flyk3 6/10

« It's okay, but after a few rounds, I find it too monotonous. And almost every round, I lose track of where I've already looked for items - it's just not for me in the long run. »

Adreil044 8/10

« A moment of applaud for all those passionate modders is the least I can do. Ror2 was already a mesmerizing game without the mods and the DLCs, so imagine if thus game is getting enhanced. From my point of view, I become prone to being addicted by this game, the amounts of the experiences you will encounter during each run is immeasurable. I genuinely felt like playing a different game every additional hour I spend playing this masterpiece. A peak rogue-like game indeed. Just it lakes some story to it but I will neglect that. »

Ataraslime 8/10

« Great game, simple, dumb, rogue-lite funs. Lots of customizable builds and rng. »

bolbolgadol 9/10

« VERY cool game, although I'm not good at the game and my laptop can't run the game so well, I still find this game very enjoyable and fun, especially while playing with friends. »

animalkitrit 9/10

« One of the very few shooter games I could play without raging at the incompetence of anything but myself. On the surface, the game is pretty simple: Go around, shoot stuff, get money, use said money to get items, repeat. But there is a lot going on behind the scenes and it honestly amazes me just how deep this game can get. The different characters and what items are more effective for them than other items, the character specific techs you can do and many many achievements to unlock and a lot of secrets hidden in every nook and crany. The game has an absurd amount of vanilla content, many DLC's AND mod support. As a person that doesnt really like shooter games this game was the bomb for me. Great game to play with friends to either chill or do unneedingy difficult challenge runs/achievement runs. I personally got the game for dirt cheap and have over 200 hours on it and I absolutely reccomend it to anyone who wants to play basically anything with friends. This game does not dissappoint. »
